No Retreat in Vince Vaughn!
Vince Vaughn was money. Paranormal Activity was phenomenal.
Vaughn's Couples Retreat banked the year's biggest opening for a romantic comedy, with a much bigger than expected $35.3 million, No. 1 Friday-Sunday debut.
Paranormal Activity, meanwhile, packed its theaters, rising all the way to fifth place with a scary-good take of $7.1 million, a mere 645 times the horror flick's micro-budget.
Here's a rundown of more results from a weekend that was great for Hollywood—but a disaster for yet another High School Musical alum:
Review: Couples Retreat a Fun-Free Vacay—With Man Boobs!
Review in a Hurry: Four unlikable couples gather at an all-inclusive marriage-counseling resort in this predictable rom-com, which takes all its comedy cues from the school of what-can-possibly-go-wrong?! How about everything—starting with too much of Jon Favreau with his shirt off.

The defense calls Jennifer Aniston to the stand? If Joe Francis has his way, maybe so.
The Girls Gone Wild purveyor's legal team has revealed the crux of their defense strategy for his long-pending tax evasion trial in court documents obtained by the Smoking Gun this week: By the looks of it, Francis is hoping to be judged by the A-list company he keeps, and not much else.
In slides filed with the court as part of his opening statement, Francis is looking to align his business with stars like Aniston, Vince Vaughn, Orlando Bloom, Jack Nicholson and even a Kardashian or two, claiming the investments—or, as prosecutors refer to them, phony business expenses—he put into his various companies were all part and parcel with servicing his star clientele and business pursuits.
Or, as his defense rather succinctly put it, "Mr. Francis in Business of Sex."

Wedding Crasher Vince Vaughn to Wed?
Could Mr. Swinger be ready to tie the knot?
Vince Vaughn is set to marry 29-year-old Canadian real-estate agent Kyla Weber, at least according to her hometown newspaper.
And the source of the scoop: the betrothed's dad.
"Ken Weber confirmed that his daughter is indeed engaged to the Wedding Crashers funnyman, but chose not to comment further," the Calgary Herald stated in a Thursday story. "He said his daughter is presently in Los Angeles and no longer in Calgary."

Four Christmases Outnumbers Twilight at Box Office
Twilight plunged. Australia wasn't epic. All of which gave Vince Vaughn the opportunity to attone for Fred Claus. Which he did.
Vaughn's and Reese Witherspoon's Four Christmases debuted atop the weekend box office with $31.7 million, per estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations. Since opening last Wednesday, the holiday comedy has taken in $46.7 million.
Ticket sales for Twilight dropped a steep 62 percent from last weekend. The vampire romance still managed a $26.4 million Friday-Sunday gross, good for third place, and hit nearly $120 million overall.
Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and a reported $130 million budget added up to a lackluster, not blockbuster, fifth-place, $14.8 million debut for Australia.

Jennifer Aniston's Most Candid Interview Ever
The split with Brad Pitt and her beef with Angelina Jolie aren't the only things Jennifer Aniston opened up about in next month's Vogue.
The usually tight-lipped former Friends star was uncharacteristically chatty with writer Jonathan Van Meter about her much-gossiped-about private life and a whole lot more.
Here, we give you some of the highlights:
Vince Vaughn's Vegas Night
John Mayer wasn't Jennifer Aniston's only ex-boyfriend partying it up on Labor Day weekend.
While Mayer was reportedly spotted carousing with a mystery blonde in Miami, Vince Vaughn was in the company of an unidentified brunette in Las Vegas on Labor Day night.
So what were they up to?
