Tom Cruise: So They Think He Can Judge

Mary Murphy isn't the only one who would like to see Tom Cruise as a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance.

"Tom loves the show, so I hope so," new permanent judge Adam Shankman says. "I happen to love Tom, and Tom loves dancing, so it would be great."

SYTYCD host Cat Deeley says Cruise already impressed them when wifey Katie Holmes performed on the show last season.

"I'd never met him before so I had no idea what to expect." Deeley remembers. "He was an absolute sweetheart. He was taking videos of his little girl and wife. Just like any guy, he was incredibly proud of his spouse."

Hmmm, does that mean Holmes might make a return engagement?

Attention, Tom & Justin! Do You Think You Can Judge?

If Katie Holmes can perform on So You Think You Can Dance, then hubby Tom Cruise can certainly be a judge, right?

So says SYTYCD judge Mary Murphy.

"He goes way back to Risky Business doing his thing," says Murphy, referring to Cruise's iconic gyrating underwear dancing. "He was on the hot-tamale train back then!"

She added with a laugh, "That hot tamale can come by anytime."

Also on Murphy's wish list? Justin Timberlake and another certain hottie...

Cruise, Reynolds and Gyllenhaal: Hot for Coldplay

Tom Cruise, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal Lester Cohen/Getty Images, Jim Spellman/Getty Images, Tony Barson/Getty Images

The stars were shining at Coldplay's Saturday-night concert at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Spotted backstage coming and going throughout the show and at the VIP afterparty were Tom Cruise, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ginnifer Goodwin and, of course, frontman Chris Martin's wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

Meanwhile, director Jon Favreau hosted the Iron Man sequel wrap party last night for about 400 people at new celeb hot spot Playhouse in Hollywood.

Favreau spent most of the night playing DJ. No surprise, but "he played a ton of Michael Jackson," according to one partygoer.

The flick's cast wasn't spotted at the bash, but that's no biggie. Big wrap parties are more for the crew than the stars.

And remember last week how I told you that it appears Vanessa Minnillo is getting along just fine since her split from Nick Lachey? Well, Mr. Lachey is doing OK, too. He was seen yesterday afternoon hanging with a group of four girls and two guys at the Water Club's pool in Atlantic City.

A source said, "Nick was very friendly and left a nice big tip."

We also just spotted a shirtless Ryan Phillippe out and about. For a look at his smokin' bod, check out the Big Picture gallery.

Tom Cruise Top Gun Costar McGillis: Yup, She's Gay

Kelly McGillis, Tom Cruise, Top Gun Paramount Pictures

Who knew when Tom Cruise famously serenaded Kelly McGillis in Top Gun with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" it would be a foreshadowing of things to come?

In a new interview with SheWired.com, McGillis reveals that she's gay. Now single, the 51-year-old actress told videoblogger Jennifer Corday that she was looking for a girlfriend. "I'm done with the man thing," she said. "I did that. I need to move on in life."

McGillis' breakout role, as an Amish mother in Witness opposite Harrison Ford in 1985, earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Top Gun followed in 1986, and then two years later, she played an attorney for a rape victim (a role which earned Jodie Foster an Oscar) in The Accused.

McGillis took a break from television and film in the 1990s.

Rumored to be a lesbian for quite some time, she eventually played one on TV in 2007...

Katie Holmes Isn't the Only One Going to D.C.

Washington is rolling out the carpet once again for Hollywood. And it's not because of that new guy in the White House.

It was announced today that Katie Holmes will be among the stars joining cohosts Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna for the upcoming National Memorial Day Concert.

Now I just got word about the lineup for the annual Independence Day concert, A Capitol Fourth. Among those scheduled to perform at the 29th annual fireworks festivities are...

Katie Holmes: She's Eating, but Not for Two

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise Jun Sato/Getty Images

If the latest round of Katie Holmes rumors is to be believed, then she's not only expecting a second baby but she prepared for the pregnancy by going on a special Scientology detox diet.

However, I have been assured by well-placed sources that neither is true.

Tom & Katie Are Not NYC's Next Real Estate Moguls

Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise BEL/Fame Pictures

Are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes trying to give Donald Trump a run for his New York City real estate money?

If a new report is to be believed, Cruise and Holmes have bought not one, not two, but three more lofts in the building where the Valkyrie star has owned an apartment since first hitting it big in the '80s with Risky Business.

Estimated price for the new purchases? A whopping $14.4 million.

But don't call in the decorators just yet...

Tom Cruise: Christmas Shopping for Suri

Tom Cruise, Suri Cruise, Katie Holmes Most Wanted/Flynet

What does Suri Cruise want from Santa Claus?

"You know, she likes to color," her dad, Tom Cruise, tells me in an exclusive interview. "She likes dolls, stuffed animals. She's really easy about stuff like that."

Sounds like shopping for daughter Bella, 16, and son Connor, 13, won’t be too hard either.

"A cool pair of sneakers, different books that they like," Cruise says of their wish list. "They're kind of like, 'Look, it's been a busy year and we're just looking forward to some quiet time, just hangin' out.' "

Of course, he and Katie Holmes have been anything but quiet recently...

Tom Cruise: More of Les Grossman in the Works!

More from Marc Malkin

Forget Tom Cruise's reaction to his Golden Globe nomination for his work in Tropic Thunder for a moment. Mr. Cruise can't help but think of how his foulmouthed alter ego, Les Grossman, would react to the news.

"Les would probably say something unprintable," Cruise told me today in an exclusive interview. "First thing when you hear about that character is, just what would that guy say? It would have to be something unprintable."

And it sounds like this isn't the last we've heard from the balding, hairy-chested studio boss. Read on for all the Grossman details...

Tom's New Flick Secretly Cruising Into Theaters

Tom Cruise, Valkyrie Phil Bray/MGM

Tom Cruise may be coming to a theater near you sooner than you think.

Valkyrie, Cruise's upcoming flick about the real-life failed attempt by high-ranking German officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler, has been screen-tested for regular ol' moviegoers in Nevada, I'm hearing.

The audiences weren't aware of what they would be seeing because they had been blindly solicited to attend a free movie at their local multiplex.

In other words, a test screening could be happening in your neighborhood sometime soon (except, of course, if you live in major cities like Los Angeles or New York, where studios rarely test because audiences in those areas tend to be much more critical and not exactly in tune with the all-important Middle America moviegoers).

Happy Birthday, George Clooney!

UPDATE: I’ve got more details for you from George Clooney’s birthday bash.

There were actually two birthday cakes made by cake and pastry company How Sweet It Is! One was for Clooney in the shape of Italy, where he owns a villa.

The other was for David Beckham, who turned 33 on Friday. The soccer star’s cake was in the shape of the United States.

I’m told John Mayer performed and Sarah Silverman even shocked some party guests when she spent some time working as Bungalow 8’s doorperson.

George Clooney turns 47 today, but the world’s most famous hunk started celebrating last night.

Giorgio Armani hosted a birthday bash for the Oscar winner after the Costume Institute Gala. It was invite-only, a source reports, for about 100 people at Amy Sacco’s legendary hot spot Bungalow 8. Clooney picked the venue, I'm told.

So just who made the VIP guest list?
