Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Diet: Now Gluten- and Lawsuit-Free

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Bryan Smith/ZumaPress.com

Elisabeth Hasselbeck may be a lot of things, but a rip-off artiste isn't one of them.

A plagiarism lawsuit brought against The View's token conservative was dismissed last week after her accuser's attorney declined to pursue the case.

The woman behind the initial court action was Susan Hassett, a self-published author who claims that Hasselbeck's recently released best-seller, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide, lifted significant passages from Hassett's own book on celiac disease.

U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Tauro dismissed the case last Thursday after Hassett's attorney failed to turn in paperwork related to the case in a timely enough manner. He later said that while portions of Hassett's dietary prose were definitely lifted for Hasselbeck's book, the passages weren't significant enough to warrant damages.

Which is apparently all the lawyer needed to hear to get packing.

The Force Is With Today, Unlike Vamp'd-Up View

Meredith Vieira doesn't like it when Ewoks grab her backside.

"Don't touch my butt," she scolded as the frisky, troll-like creatures put a minor hitch in the otherwise impressive Today show Halloween on the Plaza that went back in time to Star Wars circa 1977.

Vieira was dressed as Princess Leia, Matt Lauer as Luke Skywalker, Al Roker as Han Solo, Natalie Morales as Padmé Amidala and Kathy Lee Gifford as C-3PO. Ann Curry breathed new life into Darth Vader, while Hoda Kotb was "Yoda, I am."

The lucky morning talkers were able to score props and costumes from Lucasfilm, and the authenticity of the setup was, as Curry said, "cool."

Of course, the early risers played up the theme, kicking off the segment with a video complete with scrolling text.

Whoopi Spills Beans on Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen's Quiet, Quirky Wedding

Elisabeth Moss, Fred Armisen Mathew Imaging/Getty Images

Peggy Sue Olson got married!

After a 10-month engagement, Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss and Saturday Night Live funnyman Fred Armisen tied the knot in New York yesterday—the one-year anniversary of Jon Hamm's SNL hosting stint, a date that also happened to be the very first meeting of the newlyweds.

Moss' rep confirmed to E! News that the duo swapped vows at The Foundry in Long Island City yesterday. Moss modeled a Claire Pettibone gown in a ceremony attended by family and friends.

No word on whether those friends included Don Draper himself or any SNL cohorts; considering the couple's well-guarded privacy, we may never know.

Which means we'll just have to assume Armisen promised his Scientologist bride a pan, a comb and perhaps a cat.

In fact, we can thank a rather surprising source that their nuptials went public...

Baby + Boob = Welcome Back, Elisabeth Hasselbeck!

Whitney Houston's wasn't the only near nip slip we got to see today.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to The View after welcoming her third child, Isaiah, in early August. While her reunion with Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg was smooth enough, the child's entrance to the world was not without its hiccups and oopsie-daisies.

Mom and tot wound up logging a few extra weeks in the hospital, and, shortly before they returned home, she proudly snapped a photo of one of the newborn's first smiles and, well, a little something extra.

"I had just been feeding him, and I took the photo," she recalled. " He had this huge, huge smile, and it was the cutest picture, so immediately I forward it to everyone in my family distribution list—my mom, my dad, my brother, Tim's dad, his brother, his mom, his other brother—and I sent it to myself, 'cause I'm on the list. So I get home and I open up the photo to see my cute little guy. No wonder why he's smiling because my nipple is in the photo!"

The hostess insisted the whole thing was "worse than drunk-dialing," although we're sure hundreds of embarrassed boozers would disagree.

Before delving into the truly hot topics of the day—Balloon Boy, anyone?—Elisabeth admitted the big problem with her newborn.

"I just can't believe I named him Isaiah, 'cause he'll never be able to spell his own name," she laughed. He's gonna totally fail kindergarten!"

The mom also announced that Isaiah is her "grand finale" child, and she won't be having five as she once claimed.

Isaiah may be cute, but he's got nothin' on our girl, Suri Cruise!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Talks Baby's Health "Hiccup"

What Elisabeth Hasselbeck has lacked in onair camera time, she's apparently attempting to make up for with offscreen drama.

The new—and seemingly amped-up—mama made a brief telephonic return to The View this morning to check in with her fellow cohosts during the final weeks of her maternity leave from the show.

Speaking of her newest born, Isaiah, Hasselbeck said that while it's smooth sailing now, his entrance into the world wasn't exactly without hitches.

"He's great. We had a little bit of a hiccup," she said, adding that he was "in the hospital for a couple of weeks more than we thought."

While she didn't elaborate on what caused the extended stay, she said that now "everybody is safe and home and healthy."

And maybe a little smelly.

Move over, Barbara Walters.

Just days after Kate Gosselin's guest gig on The View, sources confirm the famous mother of eight will shoot a pilot this weekend for a new chatfest with Paula Deen.

As I was the first to tell you, the show is being developed by media powerhouse Telepictures. Unlike The View, producers at the Deen project wanted all their cohosts to be moms.

An insider just told me comedian Judy Gold will be included with the previously revealed cohosts, former Early Show coanchor Rene Syler and ABC newsman Bob Woodruff's wife, Lee Woodruff...

Kate Gosselin's New 'Do Comes Into View

Kate Gosselin, The View DONNA SVENNEVIK/ABC

Perhaps Kate Gosselin is getting tired of her signature style.

During her second day as guest cohost on The View, Gosselin showed up with a new wavy look which, naturally, made her already-famous coif a hot topic.

"Isn't it cute?" she cooed after acknowledging that it was the handiwork of the show's stylists.

And while it may be sheer coincidence, it's nevertheless interesting that this 'do development comes on the heels of Christian Siriano commenting to Us Weekly that Kate's hairstyle is very similar to his own and she might want to consider a change…

"Rattled" Taylor Talks Kanyegate, AcceptsView-Guilted Apology

Loading...

UPDATE: If you want something done, you've got to do it yourself call someone out on live television.

Just minutes after Taylor Swift confirmed on The View that, for all his attempts at public mea culpas, Kanye West had yet to personally contact her, the hip-hopper did just that.

"Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology and I accepted that apology," Swift told ABC News radio of the sweet-talking phone call.

"The support that I got from other artists and from the fans and so many people sticking up for me, that's what got me to the place that I could accept that apology. I'm just very thankful that everyone showed me so much love."

Still, we won't be holding our breath for a duet.

________

See how much nicer TV appearances go when they aren't bum-rushed?

The seasoned pro that is Taylor Swift broke her silence on Kanyegate during a stop at Mother Hen HQ this morning, taking the ladies of The View through her thought process when she went up to, theoretically, accept her Best Female Video of the Year VMA Sunday night.

"I think my overall thought process went something like, 'Wow, I can't believe I won, this is awesome, don't trip and fall, I'm gonna get to thank the fans, this is cool...Oh, Kanye West is here. Cool hair cut. What are you doin' there?' And then, 'Ouch.' And then, 'I guess I'm not gonna get to thank the fans.' "

Kate Gosselin Likes The View So Much She Wants One of Her Own

More from Marc Malkin

If you miss Kate Gosselin's run on The View this week, not to worry. She's apparently gunning for her own ladies-only chatfest.

And I hear Gosselin may already be cooking something up with a well-seasoned television veteran.

Kate Gosselin Admits Meltdown, Takes High Road (Madonna and Those Duggars Aside)

Kanye's not the only one who knows how to start a feud. And unlike her party-hopping husband, who continued his noble quest to not be named Father of the Year last night (note to Jon: mission very much accomplished), Kate Gosselin didn't need to attend any VMA afterparties to rag on one of the attendees.

She just needed to guest-host The View this morning.

When the hot topic turned to Madonna's well-intentioned yet undeniably self-absorbed show-opening remembrance of Michael Jackson, Gosselin was quick to join her cohosts in picking on the fact that every line devoted to the King of Pop seemed to end with the words "...so did I."

The reality mom quipped that she was waiting for the superstar to say, "Michael Jackson passed away, but I haven't."

Seems like she may be getting the hang of fame, after all. Though if you take into account her admitted weekend meltdown, maybe not.

Mischa Barton's "Silly" Hospitalization Continues to Confound

Mischa Barton, The View ABC/ Steve Fenn

That Mischa Barton is just so wise.

Perhaps that's why her meltdown that sent her to the psychiatric ward is being blamed on her wisdom teeth. Still.

The Beautiful Life starlet appeared on The View today and was appropriately grilled on the situation. Instead of giving Barbara Walters and the other ladies who coffee-klatch stock answers or keeping her mouth shut, she opened way wide, including talk of pain meds and suicide (we think, kinda, sorta)…

Kate Gosselin Comes Into View

Kate Gosselin James Devaney/Getty Images

Get ready for Babs & Kate Plus Three Other Chatterboxes.

Reality mama Kate Gosselin is going from talk-show fodder to talk-show pundit, joining the growing list of surprisingly topical guest cohosts for the upcoming season of The View.

Gosselin will throw her two cents into the coffee klatch Sept. 14 and 15, when she sits in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, on maternity leave until October. She joins the already announced LaToya Jackson and Meghan McCain at the table.

Of course, tapping the TLC star to fill in for Hasselbeck is not without irony.

It appears Gosselin has taken the conservative host's riled-up advice, dished out on the show in June, to "get a job."

Bet Hasselbeck wasn't expecting it to be hers.

________

Can't get enough Gosselin action? Don't miss what she had to say about Jon and her Plus 8 on Larry King Live last night!
