When you show off, you'd better be prepared to put your money where your mouth is.
Teresa Giudice of Bravo's Real Housewives of New Jersey is learning this the hard way.
She and her husband, Joe, may be in some deep financial doo-doo with the mortgage lender on their home. The reality stars owe so much money on their newly built home they could go into foreclosure very soon.
In fact, he mortgage company lodged a foreclosure complaint in New Jersey Superior Court on Aug. 7.
The Jersey girl insisted on building the home from the ground up because she felt buying a pre-owned home was unclean. She very openly paid cash for all the fine fixtures—including marble floors, gold trimmings and wrought-iron railings on a dramatic staircase—in the 12,000-square-foot home.

UPDATE: Kevin Maher is clearly a man of his word. He filed a lawsuit against Danielle Staub for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress this week.

Danielle Staub's brief first marriage may not have been a bed of roses, but according to her ex, it certainly wasn't a bed of broken glass, either!
Kevin Maher, who was married to the Real Housewives of New Jersey star for barely a year in the 1980s, tells E! News that Staub has repeatedly slandered him and he is planning to take legal action.
"I am filing a lawsuit against my ex-wife, Danielle Staub, stemming from her allegations that I raped her on a bed of broken glass, inserted my handgun inside her and played Russian Roulette, and last but not least, killing her dog by way of hanging it," Maher states. "She also threatened me on the reunion show that Bravo aired."

Bravo is blowing up! The very busy network has just ordered another installment of their Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of D.C., as well as picking up a second season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Bethenny Frankel confirms to E! News that she will be getting her own spinoff as well as appearing (for sure!) on season three of The Real Housewives of New York City.

The out-of-print tome, Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher, is now selling for upwards of $760!
"Danielle's become a star," author Charles Kipps tells E! News exclusively. "People seem not to be able to get enough. It's really been a real frenzy."
The Bravo series' star is included in the book under her former name, Beverly Ann Merrill. The story is about police informant Kevin Maher, Staub's ex-husband, and details her involvement in a kidnapping and extortion plot.

Real Housewives' Danielle Pulls Plug on Sex Tape

Contrary to popular belief, Danielle Staub doesn't want every aspect of her life captured on camera.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star has obtained a temporary restraining order to prevent an ex-boyfriend from peddling—what else?—a sex tape featuring the duo in presumably happier times.
Stephen Zalewski, who was not in court Wednesday, has also been ordered to gather up all videos and explicit photographs he may have of Staub and appear in court July 21 for a follow-up hearing.
But Staub, who easily took the title of housewife with the most skin-crawling back story on the Jersey installment of Bravo's hit franchise, has only just begun.
She is also suing Zalewski for defamation, invasion of privacy and infliction of emotional distress, claiming he that she didn't even know the tape existed until he was quoted mentioning it in a Star magazine article.
