L.A.'s Downtown Horror Show

University of Southern California Campus usc.edu

Not everything's silly fun 'n' games here in Hell-Ay—know it must seem that way with all these ridiculous wannabes and H'wood types running amok on the avenues.

But watch out on those streets, par-tick at night, 'cause there's no such thing as "safe" in some parts of this city, that's fer sure. A film student at USC—our own Becky Bain's alma mater and field of studies back when attending the SoCal uni—was stabbed to death Thursday ayem a few blocks off campus. The 23-year-old movie major, Bryan Richard Frost, got in a fight with some nonstudents, and the struggle turned to a stabbing; no arrests made yet. Good thing the Emmys have hauled butt from the Shrine Auditorium farther downtown to the Nokia Theatre, no? We don't want any scared celebs looking over their shoulder both ways more than usual.

Sad stuff—who knew what kinda filmmaker that young kid woulda turned out to be? We hope more Spielberg than Ratner, but sadly we'll never know. Our sincere condolences to the Frost family.
