Is Anne Hathaway Getting Even?

So says our Toronto cine-snob source, straight from the film fest (including post-roundups by the Oscar-sniffing set) about the burgeoning rumors about Rachel Getting Married. Biggest buzz to come out of the last film fest, 'course, is Anne Hathaway's solid shot at scoring an Academy Award win—or at the very least a nom—for her role as Kym (what edgy misspelling!), an off-and-on rehab-goer who returns home for her sister's wedding.
This time, Annie, who got totally snubbed for The Devil Wears Prada (both at Oscar and at Golden Globe time) isn't surrounded by Meryl Streep-like legends to overshadow her powerful performance. A li'l gold guy would be such sweet revenge, no? Not only for her Devil diss in '07, but for her way complex parting with shady ex-BF Raffaello Follieri. Gal's only been on her way up since that all too necessary breakup—we're so reminded of Reese Witherspoon shining bright and purty post her Ryan Phillippe split. We're rootin' for ya, Hath-babe.
Unless, of course, Ms. Streep steals A.H.'s Best Actress spot by scoring her 218th nomination for Mamma Mia!, unquestionably the most horrendous performance of that normally genius performer's career. Stranger (and suckier) things have happened at the Double A's. No Country for Old Men, anyone?
