Oh and just fyi, the military men and women at L.G.'s side were all discharged from the army for being openly gay. So, how much do you love the oft-wacky woman for asking them to escort her for her biggest night (eight awards ain't too shabby, after all)?
Someone we're not so much in love with after MTV's glitziest night: Ashley Greene. And boy were we shocked at the usually chatty (and, uh friendly) Twilight star's preshow appearance:
Cause Ash had none of her usual charm.
While the hottie admittedly looked über-gorge, per usual, with blonde highlights, flashy blue eye makeup, and a black and white mini dress, her 'tude was not top notch. We couldn't believe the gal who loves the fame game so much could act so icy on the carpet.
Instead of doing any press (aside from the required MTV shout out), A.G. stayed far away from any journalists or fans. The gal and her mini-entourage sent away anybody who came too close but, unlike other stars who wanted to slip inside with minimal fan-fare, Team Greene stayed out on the carpet chatting in the corner.

Thank heavens for Katy Perry, who was as sweet as ever when she arrived at the event.
We're still totally bummed that K.P. refused to perform one of her many recent hits at the show—as we're told by sources closely involved in planning the night of music that she did—but her too cute presence during arrivals made up for it!
Katy was running late but still made time to pose for pics with a handful of fans as she made her way into the Nokia Theatre in LA. Even as the pop star's people tried to push away, she stopped to make sure everybody got their requested photo (or a second for a fan who's first try turned out blurry).
"Yes, yes! I would love to," Katy gushed when a fan asked to pose with the babe (who looked fab with pink and blue streaks in her hair and a peek-a-boo dress). "But can we to do it while walking or I'll get yelled at!"
Katy stopped to wrap her arm around that thankful fan as they clicked the photo then disappeared on her way with a final blown kiss goodbye. We knew we loved this lady for a reason!
Two of the biggest stars of the night—hip-hopper Drake and tween-dream Justin Bieber didn't have any problem spending a little bit of extra time in the sun. Drake dashed back up the carpet to join the pint-sized player while the duo watched a spandex-clad Nicki Minaj shake her stuff for the night's preshow.
When Nic's performance (costarring Will.i.am) ended, Drake hung out to clap for his not-so-newlywed honey while the Biebs threw on his Ray-Bans and got whisked away by his security.
