The season 10 DWTS contestants aren't exactly strangers to drama. There's the recent Jake Pavelka and Vienna Giardi he-said, she-said breakup, and, well, Kate Gosselin. The reality star's most recent problem? A Pennsylvania lawmaker calling for the state's attorney general to look into the work permits granted for the little ones on the new show Kate Plus 8.
Runner up Evan Lysacek stays out of it all for the most part, but he told us last night at Boulevard3's Pre-ESPY Party that he's there for his fellow contestants, especially Kate, and defended her parenting abilities both on and off camera.
"I did watch it," Evan told us about tuning in to the premiere of Kate's new solo reality show. "I actually texted her the other night while watching it.
"She's such a great mom and really a tremendous person," Lysacek added. "She has such a great sense of humor."
Hmmm, looks like he wasn't the one who gave Gosselin an icy send-off last season ‘cause the Olympic medalist was quite genuine as he spoke.
"I can't imagine having to father eight children," dished Espy-nominated E.L. "I don't know how she does it, but she does it with a smile on her face and looking great every moment of the day."
Evan went on to say his support doesn't stop at just Kate.
"[The cast] have been keeping in touch on a daily basis. Everyone who worked on the show in production said it was the closest cast they've ever had. And we've remained very close since the show ended."
Oh, babe, that may not be entirely true, but we know everyone loved you! Anyway, onto the other media hounded costar, Jake Pavelka.
"I did talk to him," Lysacek said after Jake and Vienna's split. "I think he's doing much better. He's a very tough person.
"I got to know Jake and Vienna very well, and I hope that they're both happy. That happens, and that's relationships. They don't always work out. But I think they'll both be just fine."
