Seacrest: Simon Cowell's "Committed," Not Engaged

He continues to dance around his American Idol costar’s possible entanglement

We caught up with fellow E! pal Ryan Seacrest last night at TheWrap's pre-Oscar party at the Four Seasons' new restaurant Culina.

And with all these rumors that his American Idol bud Simon Cowell is engaged to makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy (funny connection alert: Her ex happens to be Clay Aiken), we grilled Ry on what is up with the huge rock Mezhgan is sporting on her ring finger.

"I hope that if they're building a life together, there aren't too many mirrors around to distract him from his girlfriend, or his fia—or whatever he's going to have," joked Seacrest to a group of reporters, purposely avoiding the "fiancé" term—we assume.

As for whether he would be a part of Simon's wedding, we asked?

"I don't know that there's a wedding, by the way," 'fessed Ryan. "I haven't seen an invitation. Like the Jonas Brothers, I think commitment. I think he's in the commitment-ring stage."

Don't know about you all, but we don't get diamond rings for being committed. Then again, none of us here at the A.T. are actually committed, so maybe we're out of the loop on that semicontractual kinda stuff.

Still, Ryan dodged the definitive diamond answer:

"It seems to me like a commitment ring; I think that's what it is."

Those Idol boys certainly stick together!

Although Simon's rep also declined to comment on whether his client is engaged, we'll go with Ryan on this one. Not sure if we see Cowell, the notorious bachelor, settling down. Do you?
