Marlon Wayans Is Totally the New Eddie Murphy

Finally one douche in H'wood isn't getting his day—Eddie Murphy's out of the Richard Pryor biopic, and Marlon Wayans is in.
Wayans is pretty much set to star as the popular comedian, which makes the funny dude's cryptic comments to us a few months back a lot clearer. We had asked Marlon back at the G.I. Joe premiere if we'd ever see him playing straight onscreen again. "Absolutely," he told us. "Just waiting for the right role. I got one that might be coming! It's gonna be one helluva role."
He couldn't be more right. Starring as Pryor is a friggin' fantastic get for a comedy actor trying to prove he can really act. And it would have been a smart move for Murphy, too, if he didn't completely ef up his chances...
Dreamgirls director Bill Condon, who's helming the Pryor flick, originally up the project for Murphy to star. But predictably, Murphy wanted too much money.
The last thing E.M.'s career needs right now is to focus on his ego and his bank account—with all the kiddie crap he makes every year, don't you think that would be enough to satisfy him so he could nab a way-coveted role and possibly score another Oscar nomination? Guess not. He could not be less interested in winning any credibility back in T-town. Fine with us, Ed, cause apparently, you're totally replaceable!
We're thrilled for Marlon, who we love in more serious fare like Requiem for a Dream as opposed to the moronic movies he makes with his brothers (though we gotta admit he's damn good at the silly stuff he does). Plus the dude's a total good guy and is well liked in the Biz, while Murphy treats almost everybody he meets (even his girlfriends) like merde.
Guess the guy deserves what he gets, huh?
