Gossip Girl Mama Finally Makes Nice in Custody Battle
Well, if this isn't a red-letter day for well-brokered negotiations, nothing is.
Gossip Girl mama Kelly Rutherford has finally settled her contentious custody battle with ex hubby Daniel Giersch, with the duo agreeing to share joint legal and physical custody of their two children.
Per the terms of their hard-fought settlement, both parents will be required to reside in New York from July 30 to April 5, when Gossip Girl shoots, and relocate back to Los Angeles at the end of the season.
But the Big Apple's apparently not quite big enough for the both of them: While Rutherford will retain her residence in Manhattan, Giersch will reside in the Hamptons for the duration of the show's production year.
Geographical separation aside, the duo, who were married for two years, will have to spend some time together. They've been ordered to attend coparenting counseling sessions.
All without the help of a former president.

Brooke Shields, Enquirer Settle Up Over Mom-Jacking
Looks like the National Enquirer is crying uncle in its beef with Brooke Shields.
The actress threatened legal action and initiated a police investigation last month after a reporter for the tabloid, claiming to be a family friend, checked Shields' ailing mother out of a New Jersey nursing home, ostensibly as fodder for a story.
Teri Shields, 75, suffers from dementia—something the actress was reluctantly forced to disclose in the wake of the Enquirer's actions.
"I am very pleased to report that [the] National Enquirer was prevailed upon not to publish a story," Shields's attorney, Gerald B. Lefcourt, tells People magazine. "Further, it has or will be apologizing publicly. Finally, it has agreed to make a generous donation to further research on dementia and to encourage others to do so." (As of press time, the Enquirer had not yet released its mea culpa.)
Case Clothes'd for Woody Allen
For a brief moment, Crimes and Misdemeanors threatened to be more than just a movie title for Woody Allen. But not anymore.
American Apparel has agreed pay $5 million to settle Allen's lawsuit against the clothing company.
"I am told the settlement of $5 million I am being paid is the largest amount ever paid under the New York right to privacy law," the 72-year-old told reporters outside the courthouse.
Allen added that he hoped the settlement "would discourage American Apparel or anyone else from ever trying such a thing again."
The last-minute settlement was announced this morning, after Allen had already arrived at the Manhattan federal courthouse where he was due to take the stand as the first witness of the trial.
The Oscar-winning auteur was seeking $10 million from the company after it used an unauthorized still of him from Annie Hall on billboards as well as on the brand's website.
Lane Garrison Settles With Crash Victims
Lane Garrison is continuing to find new ways to pay for his crimes behind bars.
The former Prison Break actor, currently serving out his prison time for a 2006 booze-fueled crash that took the life of a 17-year-old and injured two 15-year-olds, has settled the lawsuits resulting from the incident.
"All injured parties have been compensated," Garrison lawyer John Doherty tells E! News. "This should be a complete resolution to any claims by anybody, including the family of the young boy who died as well as the two girls who were injured.”
Terms of the settlements are being kept confidential.
Lane pleaded guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter and DUI and was sentenced to 40 month behind bars.

Ugly Betty's Ashley Jensen No Longer Flipping Out on Jeff Lewis
Forget fences—it's good legal settlements that really make good neighbors.
Flipping Out's Jeff Lewis and his Los Feliz neighbor, Ugly Betty's Ashley Jensen, have reached a deal in their months-long legal battle, finally drawing a (property) line in the sand over allegations that one of the reality star's construction projects had intentionally encroached on Jensen's property.
"I'm happy Ms. Jensen has returned to Earth, removed the restraining order, and insisted we settle our boundary dispute for my original offer of $30,000," Lewis said in a statement. "Clearly, she has milked this publicity opportunity for all it's worth."
The dispute, which came to an acrimonious head back in December, resulted in Jensen and her husband Terence Beesley filing a lawsuit against Lewis and being granted a restraining order against him.
As Miley's World Turns: Ticket Spat Settled, Hannah Single Scores
Some big doings in Miley Cyrusland: The tween queen's fansite is making nice with fans who felt cheated out of concert tickets, and Hannah Montana's alter ego just scored her biggest single yet on the charts.
First, Miley fans are finally getting some mileage out of their fan club membership.
Pennsylvania's attorney general, Tom Corbett, has announced the settlement of a class-action lawsuit against the Nashville company that operates Cyrus' Mileyworld.com over allegations of deceptive advertising for promising, but failing to deliver, tickets to the teen sensation's Best of Both Worlds tour last year.
Breaking News
Madonna, Guy Settle Up for $76 Million
Christmas came early for Guy Ritchie.
Madonna's longtime spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, confirms to E! News that the megastar and Ritchie have reached a financial settlement in their divorce, with her former bloke set to receive a windfall payout of at least $76 million.
Per Rosenberg, the figure also takes into account the value of the couple's massive English country estate and could ultimately top out at $92 million.
While the deal marks the conclusion of the duo's monetary haggling, no agreement has yet been reached over the custody of their two children together, 8-year-old Rocco and 3-year-old David.
Madonna filed for divorce from Ritchie in October, citing "unreasonable behavior" from her hubby. A British court granted them a preliminary decree of divorce last month.
Coppola Settles Up
All together now...it was an offer he couldn't refuse.
Francis Ford Coppola has resolved a lawsuit brought by a film production company that claimed it had been jilted out of its share of the profits from daughter Sofia's directing debut, The Virgin Suicides.
NBC to Catch a Settlement
The Peacock blinked.
NBC has settled a lawsuit brought by the family of a Texas prosecutor who took his own life after he became the target of a Dateline: To Catch a Predator investigation, an NBC rep confirmed.
"The matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of both parties," network spokeswoman Jenny Tartikoff said in a statement.
