Sean Penn Debuts New Girlfriend Amid NYC's Star-Studded Weekend Bashes
What a weekend for New Yorkers!
With the MTV Video Music Awards, Fashion Week, the U.S. Open and all the star-studded parties that come with them, so much fun stuff went down.
Let's start with the leggy.
Newly separated (again!) Sean Penn stepped out with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White to celebrate fellow catwalker Noemie Lenoir's birthday at new hot spot Abe & Arthur's on Saturday night.
The following evening, Jay-Z's sleek VMAs afterparty took over 1Oak and included guests from Rihanna and Beyoncé to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba.
Outside, however, things took a dustier turn when Diddy had a "misunderstanding," as his rep tells E! News, with some cops. Worry not, the NYPD says no arrests were made, and all related parties seem to think the situation was "blown out of proportion."

Sean "Diddy" Combs Is Hot for Paula Abdul
Sean "Diddy" Combs is on the hunt for new talent. Not only is he looking for musicians to back him up on tour for his new album, Last Train to Paris, on MTV's Making His Band, but he just premiered Starmaker, an American Idol-like reality show that's also on the music network.
"You have everything from soul to pop to rock to country," Diddy told me yesterday from his New York City offices. "We equipped them with a choreographer, a stylist, a vocal coach and a manager. That's why it's called a Starmaker, because we're trying to make a star."
Sounds like Starmaker could be a training camp for divas. But no worries—Diddy is OK with that. "I don't know any superstars who are not divas," he said with a laugh. "As long as divas come with hit records, I'm not afraid. I can handle them."
That's not all I have for you from the 39-year-old music impresario. Read on to find out what he says about Paula Abdul, working with Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, and why he has no plans for a Diddy's Apprentice.
P. Diddyness Is Next to Godliness
Never have judges on a talent show said so much and meant so little. Welcome to the blathering, God-dropping authorities on P.Diddy's Starmaker, folks who make the American Idol brain trust sound informed, rational, even thoughtful...
Fallon, Diddy Slow Jam Obama's Poll Numbers
Diddy may have cultivated a rep for being the sample king, but he apparently has a thing for covers, too.
We just never thought President Barack Obama's poll numbers would be his source material of choice.
Leave it to Jimmy Fallon and the Roots to find the—dare we say—hope in the prez's slightly declining approval rating, enlisting Diddy to bring home their Rasmussen poll-inspired (the poor man's Gallup) slow jam. It's no auto-tuning the news, but still.
Statistical noise never sounded so good.

Why Do People Keep Giving Diddy TV Shows?
Diddy just got another show? Why does he still have a job, much less a show? Can I have a show?
—K.K.
Yep. Another show. This one about the making of his new backup band. Sean "Diddy" Combs, that zombie of the hip-hop lifestyle, continues to shamble along despite a noticeable lack of presence on the music charts. Oh wait. Totally forgot. He just cut that totally not-opportunistic single about Michael Jackson. Forget I said anything.
So why would Diddy still have a TV career? You'll be shocked...
Chris Brown Parties With Rihanna Look-Alike
She sure looks like Rihanna, but the woman on Chris Brown's arm on the Fourth of July was not his ex-girlfriend.
The Ri-Ri look-alike was singer Teyana Taylor.
The two hit Sean "Diddy" Combs and Ashton Kutcher's Cîroc-sponsored White Party for Malaria No More. Inside the bash, held at a private Beverly Hills mansion, the two danced together and posed for pictures.
Brown also spent plenty of time hanging with Kanye West's on-again, off-again lady, Amber Rose...
Michael Jackson Liked Pooling Around
Michael Jackson enjoyed playing…pool?
Apparently so.
"I know people who produced for him, and they would tell me stories about him. They'd say he was just one of those people who appreciated simple things," Chamillionaire told us yesterday at the BET Awards. "They actually went to play pool with him, and they said he didn't want to leave. I was like, 'Wow, I can't picture Michael Jackson playing pool.' "

Britney Spears' Twitter Hacked But She's A-OK
Let's just make something clear: Britney Spears is alive and well. So are Ellen DeGeneres and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Apparently, the pop star and the comedienne's TwitPic accounts were hacked over the weekend. TwitPic is a web-based messaging system that allows Twitter users to post pictures. It is not, however, owned by Twitter.
The total twit perpetrator must have thought it would be funny to add these celebs' names to the frighteningly growing list of deaths over the past week.
"Britney has passed today," one of the messages said. "It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come."
Thankfully, Brit-Brit joins Harrison Ford and Jeff Goldblum among the stars whose fake death notices spread throughout the Internet this week.
"Britney’s Twitter was just hacked," her current message reads. "The last message is obviously not true. She is fine and dandy spending a quiet day at home relaxing."
Phew!
Diddy, DeGeneres and Spears have all since deleted the photos and messages alleging their deaths.
This isn't Spears' first run-in with a Twitter hacker. The Circus star's account was violated in January, along with handles for Barack Obama and Fox News. And, just two weeks ago, Lindsay Lohan claimed comments about Justin Timberlake at a club appeared courtesy of a hacker.
Thankfully, things are a bit more copacetic elsewhere in the Twitterverse…
Kendra, Kim and Kourtney's Party Tip
Picking sister Kim as her designated driver is a no-brainer for Kourtney Kardashian.
"Luckily, Kim doesn't drink, so she drives us everywhere," Kourtney says.
Adds Kim, "I am always the designated driver. I've never been big on drinking."
The Kardashians, fellow reality star Kendra Wilkinson and a slew of other boldfaced names are featured in E!'s new Drive Safe campaign to promote responsible drinking.
The network teamed up with Sean "Diddy" Combs and Ciroc Ultra Premium vodka to shoot the spot at Hollywood's LAX nightclub. Along with the celebs' designated driver picks, the ad includes info on online and wireless access to local taxi services across the country.
As Wilkinson told me during shooting, "It's crazy what one or two drinks can do. It's sad how innocent people die because of stupidity."

Driving Safe With Kim, Kourtney, Kendra and Shanna
Kourtney and Kim Kardashian immediately jumped on board when they were asked to take part in E!'s upcoming Drive Safe campaign to prevent drinking and driving.
The issue became more than just a statistic when their sister, Khloe, was busted for driving under the influence in November 2007.
"I think you always know not to drink and drive, but you never ever think it's going to happen to you," Kourtney says. "I think once it hits that close to home, you realize how serious it is. We take it very seriously now."

• Even if Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman are faking it (they were supposedly both up for that sweet Judy Garland gig Hathaway scored), they have the potential to be the hottest gal-pals in Hollywood. We dare you to come up with a more dynamic dream duo.
