Review: The Vampire's Assistant Only Kinda Sucks

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, Salma Hayek, John Reilly David Lee / Universal

Review in a Hurry: Can't get your fill of bloodsuckers? Then drink up, hard-core fang fans, because Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant doesn't totally suck, though it's not very satisfying either. Still, this intermittently funny Freak show about a goody-goody kid who becomes part vampire provides a few treats for tween Halloweeners.

Rise 'n' Shine: Are Anne Hathaway & Natalie Portman Frenemies?

Even if Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman are faking it (they were supposedly both up for that sweet Judy Garland gig Hathaway scored), they have the potential to be the hottest gal-pals in Hollywood. We dare you to come up with a more dynamic dream duo.

Jennifer Aniston must think she's Sean "Diddy" Combs or something, demanding an umbrella handler to shield her from the sun (and potential melting makeup).

How to be like Hugh Jackman: Take cold showers and keep your privates in a bag.

In case you were curious, here's Lindsay Lohan's and Samantha Ronson's Facebook status update.

• Chuck Wicks is sorry (yeah, right) for copping a feel on girlfriend Julianne Hough on Dancing With the Stars last night.

Speaking of feels, something tells us Katy Perry isn't sorry for doing a bit more than kissing Lady Sovereign.

Dear Charlize Theron: Thanks so much for sharing the details of Salma Hayek's wedding! Love, Rise 'n' Shine

Second Time's a Charmer as Salma Hayek Reweds

It was tutto buono for Salma Hayek and husband François-Henri Pinault this weekend.

The happy couple, who made it legal on Valentine's Day, retied the knot in front of about 150 family members and superstar friends Saturday at the opera house La Fenice in Venice, Italy.

Per People, which first confirmed the second pronouncement of husband and wife, Hayek wore a Nicholas Ghesquiere-designed Balenciaga gown and a long veil and carried a crystal-studded bouquet of orchids and stephanotis.

The newlyweds' 19-month-old daughter, Valentina Paloma, acted as flower girl and Pinault's 10-year-old son, François, and 8-year-old daughter, Mathilde, from his first marriage participated as well.

Guests such as Hayek's longtime gal-pal Penélope Cruz and Bono started pouring into town Thursday to take part in the multiday celebration.

Salma Hayek Says "I Do" to Wedding Redo

Salma Hayek has a blockbuster sequel on her hands.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who officially married on Valentine's Day, is scheduled to hold a wedding celebration with her husband, François-Henri Pinault, this weekend in Italy.

Sources have confirmed to E! News that Hayek, 42, and celeb pals, including Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, have already started to arrive in Venice for the event. The soiree was organized so that the newlyweds could celebrate with friends and family, since their wedding earlier this year was a low-key affair attended by few.

Hayek had previously shot down rumors that she planned on spending $2 million for the party—not that the ultraloaded Pinault, a tycoon whose company runs Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, couldn't afford to bankroll such a lavish affair.

The couple, who split briefly last summer despite a long engagament, have a 1-year-old daughter, Valentina.

Would Salma Hayek Blow $2 Million on a Wedding?

Salma Hayek just said she is not spending $2 million on her wedding. I could buy like two houses for that. Do celebs really spend that much on weddings?
—Foster, New York

No. No, they do not. If that really is the cost of Salma's wedding, I highly suspect it's more like an estimated value, not the amount she will actually put on a check.

After all, I can almost guarantee—and I know this because I wrote it in a book—that Salmita has wedding experts lined up around her block begging to give her massive discounts on everything from the dress to planning fees.

Why? Because she's famous, dummy. And because even B- and C-list stars are getting serious discounts and freebies for their weddings these days. Wanna know who? In the mood for a blind item?

Well...

Salma Hayek's Valentine Day Vows

Salma Hayek and her French billionaire baby-daddy, François-Henri Pinault, spent their Valentine's Day making it official.

The Frida actress, 42, and the father of their 17-month-old daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, were married in a Paris town hall over the weekend, Mayor Jean-Pierre Lecoq confirmed to Agence France-Presse.

The couple, who met in 2006, announced their engagement in March 2007, but called it off in July 2008. Reports only recently began surfacing that the onetime Oscar nominee had reconciled with her businessman beau.

This is the first marriage for Hayek, who's been seen lately guest starring on 30 Rock and breast-feeding a poverty-stricken child. Pinault, 46, who owns Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and other luxury brands, has two children from a previous marriage that ended in 2004.

Salma Hayek Nurses 30 Rock Back to Health?

Salma Hayek, Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock Jessica Miglio/NBC

Thursday TV's Lesson: So go the headlines, so goes 30 Rock. Last fall, Tina Fey's Sarah Palin phase helped grow the show's audience. This week, guest star Salma Hayek's breastfeeding bit seemingly did the same. Compared to last week, the comedy was up about 20 percent in total viewers (7.6 million, per Nielsen estimates) and 18-49-year-olds.

Other Potential Non-Breastfeeding-Related Reasons for 30 Rock's Big Night: The second part of two-part The Office (8.9 million) gave Fey's comedy an even bigger lead-in than usual. Also, neither show had to go up against Kitchen Nightmares, which had the night off.

Ka-Ching! The Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover is the gift that keeps on giving. Grey's (15.1 million) was about even with last week but dominant over an all-new CSI (night-best 17.8 million) in the demo at 9 p.m. Private Practice (14.2 million) was up 1 million-plus viewers, and hit a series high among 18-49-year-olds.

Etc.: The premiere of the latest Survivor: Tocantins (13.8 million), was an improvement over the premiere of the last Survivor: Gabon (13.1 million). Ugly Betty (7.4 million) was up over last week. The NAACP Image Awards (4.2 million) was up over last year.

Salma Hayek Is a Rock (Guest) Star

It's official!

Salma Hayek could be on the 30 Rock set as early as this week.

Her rep just confirmed to me that she will be shooting an upcoming appearance on the hit NBC series and it could be within the next few days.

Tina Fey asked Hayek to guest on the Emmy-winning series as "a character—not as herself" for two episodes, according to a report in the New York Post.

Hayek joins an almost daily growing list of celebs whom Fey has nabbed for 30 Rock, including Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Jerry Seinfeld and Al Gore.

Who's next, Brad and Angelina?

Salma Hayek's Nondisposable Cause

Salma Hayek isn't just tossing diapers into the Genie® these days.

The new mom has signed on as a spokeswoman for Pampers' "One Pack = One Vaccine" program, a global initiative launched in the U.K. in 2006, in cooperation with UNICEF, to provide mothers and infants in Africa and Asia with tetanus shots.

"In our own small way, this is an opportunity for moms like me here in North America to help other mothers on a global level," Hayek said.

For every specially marked package of Pampers product sold in the U.S. and Canada between Apr. 1 and June 30, the Procter & Gamble-owned brand will donate the funds for one vaccine.

Considering Pampers is the top-selling diaper brand in the world, so P&G says, the partnership, part of the company's philanthropic "Live, Learn and Thrive" campaign, seems poised to raise quite a bit of cash.

Hayek and fiancé François-Henri Pinault welcomed daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault on Sept. 21, their first child together.

But although one might think that Hayek would be sick of diapers these days, her decision to team up with Pampers fits right in with a lot of her other extracurricular activities.

Along with Madonna, Adrien Brody, Lucy Liu, Demi Moore and various other celebs, the Once Upon a Time in Mexico star will cochair a big-ticket fundraiser on Feb. 6 celebrating the opening of Gucci's new Fifth Avenue store and benefiting UNICEF and Raising Malawi, the charity cofounded by Madonna in 2006 for orphans in the southeast African country.

For her first post-maternity acting endeavor, Hayek has signed to play a bearded lady in the upcoming horror drama Cirque du Freak, sources confirm to E! News. The Universal film costars John C. Reilly. Filming begins next month.

She's then scheduled to appear in William H. Macy's feature directorial debut Keep Coming Back, playing an alcoholic ex-stripper (who still manages to look pretty good, of course).

Hayek, 41, most recently starred in the violent indie noir Lonely Hearts and had a prominent cameo in Frida director Julie Taymor's Across the Universe, which scored a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.

And although their efforts have been slowed by the ongoing writers' strike, Hayek and her fellow executive producers were at one point busy presiding over another successful season of Ugly Betty, which is in the running once again for Best TV Comedy at Sunday's Globes (which, also thanks to the strike, have been relegated to an hour-long news conference).

Last year, the Hollywood Reporter ranked Hayek fourth on its inaugural list of the 50 most powerful Latinos and Latinas in Hollywood. In April, she hooked up with MGM to open her own company, Ventanazul, to produce, develop and distribute Latin-themed films.
