Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish Got Game
Does the couple that games together stay together?
If so, Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish will be just fine, thank you very much.
The no-more-undercover couple stopped by the Xbox 360 party last night at celebrity tattoo artist Mister Cartoon's new Last Laugh shop in downtown Los Angeles.
Ryan Phillippe: Fashionably Peaceful
We don't really know if Ryan Phillippe is the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, but the actor obviously likes to wear his desire for peace on his T-shirt.
Phillippe was spotted sporting the symbol while rug shopping in Hollywood Monday with his (now very public) squeeze and Stop-Loss costar, Abbie Cornish.
Unfortunately, the two-fingered gesture didn't extend to the paparazzi trailing the couple. "Go to hell," was the special message the actor had for the shutterbugs.
But by and large, Ryan's certainly not the only celeb who has been known to give peace a chance. Check out who else is letting their fingers do the talking in our Peace Offerings gallery!
Teens Choose Justin, Miley, Gossip
OMFG. Consider the Gossip Girl word sufficiently spread.
The CW hit received a leading—and whopping—14 nominations this morning for the Teen Choice 2008 Awards.
Chris Brown checked in with nine nods, Miley Cyrus (who will host the ceremony) scored four nods, and perpetual nominee Justin Timberlake racked up three.
Timberlake is the awards' winningest artist, having aggregated 21 surfboards—the event's laid-back hardware of choice—since 1999.
Reese 'n' Ryan's Marriage Formally Falls to Pieces
Reese Witherspoon is finally a single girl. Aside from that whole dating Jake Gyllenhaal thing.
Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's divorce was finalized in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, with court papers obtained by E! News indicating that financial and custodial settlements between the ex-couple have been reached.
The no-frills—and sadly, no details—document simply reads: "[The court finds] the parties have settled all their remaining issues in these proceedings."
Ryan Phillippe & Abbie Cornish Go Public
He's not exactly shouting it from the rooftops, but Ryan Phillippe finally seems comfortable publicly acknowledging his relationship with Abbie Cornish.
In a first-time display, the actor stepped out with his Stop Loss costar yesterday for an awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, followed by an intimate night of jazz in Hollywood.
Ryan, 33, has been linked with the 25-year-old actress since 2006, when they shot the Iraq drama. Despite rampant reports of on-set romance, he's denied that it's the reason he split with wife Reese Witherspoon.
Reese, Ryan Cleared to Remarry
Nearly all the pieces of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's divorce are in order. Except, that is, for the divorce itself.
The former golden couple's union was officially terminated last Friday, with the Los Angeles Superior Court reinstating the camera-ready twosome's right to remarry. (View the court documents.)
Though the dissolution of marriage has been formalized, signed off on by none other than Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon, who's currently preoccupied with Britney Spears' legal woes, the court still must finalize the divorce, as financial and custody arrangements over their children—daughter Ava, 8, and son Deacon, 3—have yet to be hammered out.
Last May, Phillippe filed a legal response to Witherspoon's divorce petition, seconding her motion for joint legal custody of the two kids, but requesting joint physical custody as well. In her original filing last November, the Oscar winner sought primary custody.
While a custody deal has yet to be resolved, the erstwhile couple seems to be on more of a similar wavelength in terms of postnuptial financial arrangements.
In his May filing, the 33-year-old Phillippe opted not to seek any spousal support from his significant (and significantly higher-earning) other. The couple tied the knot in 1999, before either of them were household names or in need of a prenup, thereby entitling Phillippe to theoretically seek 50 percent of his former missus' earnings.
And while the actors are now free to remarry, it doesn't seem like wedding bells will be ringing for either party for quite some time.
Witherspoon has been tenuously linked with her Rendition costar Jake Gyllenhaal for several months, though she has barely confirmed his status as a costar, let alone addressed the nature of their relationship.
Phillippe, for his part, has been photographed with a few starlets, including Thirteen's Nikki Reed and Stop Loss costar Abbie Cornish. Although he has jumped back into the dating pool quicker than Witherspoon, he has adamantly denied accusations of infidelity during his marriage.
Earlier this year, Phillippe told Ellen DeGeneres that his wrecked marriage had made for "the most personally devastating time in my life."
Witherspoon seemed to take the split equally as hard, telling Elle last month that she was literally paralyzed by the pain of the separation, saying she was unable to move from her car after the realization of divorce hit her.
The duo announced their uncoupling in October of last year; the 31-year-old Walk the Line star formally filed for divorce just one week later.
Ryan Phillippe Seeks Joint Custody
Ryan Phillippe isn't happy about the pieces Reese is attempting to make off with in the former golden couple's split—their two kids.
The actor has finally filed a legal response to estranged wife Reese Witherspoon's divorce petition, seconding her motion for joint legal custody of the couple's two children but requesting joint physical custody of the genetically blessed tots as well. Witherspoon had requested primary custody of Ava, seven, and Deacon, three, in her November filing.
According to court documents obtained Friday by E! News, the Flags of Our Fathers star requested that visitation be "equally allocated" between Witherspoon and himself. (View the documents.)
Daddy duty is the only thing Phillippe is seeking.
In his filing, the actor opted not to seek any spousal support from his significantly higher-earning missus, seemingly squashing long-perpetuated rumors that Witherspoon's bigger breadwinning status was one of the contributing factors to the couple's demise.
The young couple, who were married for seven years, did not have a prenuptial agreement, making Phillippe legally entitled to 50 percent of his blockbuster wife's earnings. Witherspoon, 30, did request in her Nov. 8 filing that the court block any future financial requests from her Cruel Intentions costar.
But Phillippe, 32, did not block Witherspoon from seeking spousal support from him. Not that she was likely to in the first place.
One thing he and Witherspoon did seem to agree on, however, was the gloriously vague cause of their split, with Phillippe's paperwork seconding her claim that it was "irreconcilable differences"—not salacious tabloid tales that Phillippe was a less than faithful husband or experiencing pangs of emasculation in the wake of his wife's megasuccess—that tore them apart.
And while Phillippe has been tenuously linked with a string of beauties in the wake of the divorce filing, including Thirteen's Nikki Reed and Stop Loss costar Abbie Cornish, he has adamantly denied the fidelity-challenged allegations leveled against him in the press.
"I'm not a perfect person, but I'm not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of," the actor told People last November. "My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family."
Witherspoon and Phillippe tied the knot back in 1999 and announced their separation on Oct. 30 of last year. Just a week later, the Oscar-winning Walk the Line star formally filed for divorce.
