New Moon Party Turns Into Animal House
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner may be the big stars of New Moon, but it was a couple of hairy beasts who almost stole the spotlight at last night's premiere party at L.A.'s Hammer Museum.
Outside of the Volturi-inspired bash, under a tent designed to look like a forest, were two—ready for this?—real-life timberwolves. They were kept at a safe distance from guests behind a fence.
Now, let's get back to Rob and Kristen...
Live From the New Moon Premiere!
Hey there! I don't think I have to tell you where I am.
OK, I will.
I'm at the premiere of New Moon with little-known celebs like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. I'm on the red carpet. I'm tweeting away for you on Twitter. So make sure to follow me for all the details.
And don't forget to check in at E! Online's bloody good Vampire Party blog for even more anything and everything that you need to see and know about the big night.
New Moon Fans Camp Out for Tonight's Premiere
It's not exactly a national holiday, but there are some people who are treating tonight's New Moon premiere in Los Angeles as if it were one.
Kestlie Stefanelli, a 14-year-old from Truckee, Calif., has taken three days off from school so she could camp out near the theater in the Westwood Village neighborhood of L.A. She and her mother, Laurie, are two of an estimated 500 people who started arriving on Thursday with pup tents, lawn chairs and sleeping bags in hopes of securing a good spot on or near the red carpet?
New Moon's World Premiere: Countdown Begins!
New Moon doesn't hit theaters until Nov. 20, but the red carpet will be rolled out four days prior for its star-studded world premiere.
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and many others are expected at the invite-only event Nov. 16. Just as Summit did with Twilight’s premiere, there will be two screenings happening simultaneously at the Mann Village and Bruin Theatres in the Westwood neighborhood of L.A.
No Twi-fans have been spotted camping out in front of the theaters just yet, but why do we have a feeling that'll start happening sooner than later?
Meanwhile, we got some more deets on director David Slade taking a dark turn with Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight franchise...
Partying With the Stars of Twilight
About 1,000 people packed it in last night at the Hammer Museum in L.A. for an afterparty following the world premiere of Twilight.
No surprise, but Robert Pattinson was definitely the main attraction. He was surrounded by eager fans for at least two hours straight. Seriously, the crowd in front of him was at least 10 people deep.
Of course, the tray of Heinekens delivered to Pattinson's table may have helped calm what were some rather jittery nerves. Pattinson is way more shy than gregarious and outgoing...

Remembering Ledger's Brokeback Influence
Lee Marks didn’t know Heath Ledger personally, but that didn't stop him from choking up when talking about the late actor.
Why? Because Marks says it was Ledger's role in Brokeback Mountain that helped inspire his own work in Half-Life, a live-action/animated drama centered around an Asian American family living in Diablo Valley, California. The film, by writer-director Jennifer Phang, premiered last night at the Sundance Film Festival, which is where the actor talked about Ledger's influence on his performance.
Marks (below, left) costars as a teacher whose career is threatened when he becomes romantically involved with a man, played by Leonardo Nam (below, right).
“I always told myself that when I was able to play a gay character, I'd feel that I had arrived as an actor,” Marks said while fighting back tears at the movie's premiere. “I read an article about how Heath developed his character and what the character felt. I watched Brokeback Mountain about 15 times.”
Nam, who grew up in Sydney, Australia, said he and Ledger hung out in the same social circle and shared an acting coach. “He was such a brave actor by the way he directed his own career, making choices such as Brokeback and now doing the Batman movie,” Nam said. "It's dangerous to reprise a role that has already been done by Jack Nicholson. It was incredible to choose that."

Colin Farrell Is F--king Hot!
We'll get to the f--king business in a minute, but first: Who knew Colin Farrell and Mary-Kate Olsen were pals?
Olsen showed up at the Lift last night in Park City for the opening-night party celebrating the premiere of Farrell’s new comedy In Bruges. “I just got here,” she told a friend while braving the 10-degree weather to smoke a cigarette. “I’m gonna stay, so I can say hello to Colin.”
That was about all she stayed for. She and Farrell chatted for a few minutes before Olsen made her way home. “I don’t think there’s much more going on tonight,” she was overheard saying. “We should save it for tomorrow night.”
Farrell looked superhot with long hair. And I loved the way he was dressed, 'cause, well, it’s the same way I usually dress: V-neck sweater, shirt, tie and jeans!
In homage to the movie’s curse-filled dialogue, waiters and bartenders wore T-shirts that read “My best friend went to f--king Bruges and all I got was this f--king shirt.” Drink coasters read “Where the f--k is the city of Bruges?” Cocktails were from Hpnotiq, and alcohol-free drinks were from SmartWater.
The Lift will be hosting a bunch of private dinners during the festival, including one for the cast of Matthew Broderick’s movie Diminished Capacity. I'm betting Sarah Jessica Parker may be there, because she’s also hitting Sundance for her movie Smart People.
Down Main Street, the usual crazy crowd surrounded Tao at Harry O’s. Akon performed after hosting the ChefDance dinner a couple of floors below. But I didn't see Akon at the din-din prepared by James Boyce of the Montage in Laguna, California, and cosponsored by Von Dutch. Rapper Chamillionaire was there (though I’ll admit I had no idea who he was until someone told me), as was Rex Lee. The Entourage star showed up with his own entourage and had to work the door people with some smooth talking in order to get the half-dozen people with him inside.
Producer Lawrence Bender sat at a table with Lee and Chamillionaire, while a couple of tables away was legendary New York restaurateur Sirio Maccioni of Le Cirque.
Yesterday, I told you there's buzz that U2 would be the surprise performer at the premiere party for U2 3D. A rep for the party insists that's not happening. However, a festival insider told me last night, “I hear they may just go to a small bar and jump onstage to perform.”
Now, I have to tell you about my little paparazzi adventure. I saw Randy Quaid yesterday at the airport in Salt Lake City. And when I caught him busting out what looked like a full-length fur, I just had to try to get a pic. That’s him all blurry in the photo above. Shows you why I stick to words and try not to play paparazzo.

Setting Off for Sundance
I’m leaving tonight for Robert Redford’s annual moviemaking get-together in Park City, Utah. That means leaving sunny L.A. for some snowy weather, but I don’t mind. Sundance is a celebrity free-for-all. Everywhere you turn, there’s another famous face.
Here’s just a sample of what’s going down while I’m there. Make sure to come back for my daily reports and my Planet Gossip Now videoblog posts.
IRISH EYES: Colin Farrell jets in for his comedy In Bruges, which costars Ralph Fiennes, and an after-party tomorrow at the Lift on Main Street.
THAT'S HOT: Paris Hilton has been a Sundance staple for years, but now she actually has a movie to promote! The Hottie and the Nottie isn’t exactly an official festival entry, but who cares? The hotel heiress is throwing a bash for the flick on Sunday at the Bon Appetit Supper Club.
OUT THERE: Sharon Stone, Winona Ryder, Quentin Tarantino, Kirsten Dunst, Dennis Quaid and Ellen Page are among those on the guest list for Sunday’s 12th Annual Outfest Queer Brunch. So is Sean "Diddy" Combs. I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
DEVIL WEARS SNOW BOOTS: The hilarious Emily Blunt comes in for the Friday premiere of Sunshine Cleaning, a drama in which she stars opposite Amy Adams and Alan Arkin. And I’m sitting down with Blunt for some one-on-one time Saturday morning. Can’t wait!
FIRST NIGHT: I’m going to have flashbacks when I see Blunt’s The Devil Wears Prada costar Stanley Tucci at the party for Blind Date on Friday. Tucci’s Big Night was one of the very first premieres I ever covered back in—gulp—1996!
DUTCH TREAT: Akon hosts tomorrow’s opening of ChefDance at Harry O’s Von Dutch room.
WEEKLY ROMP: Entertainment Weekly holds its annual shindig Saturday at the Legacy Lodge. Who’s expected to attend? Dave Annable, Maria Bello, Colin Firth, Adrian Grenier, Sandra Oh and many more.
PRESIDENTIAL PARTY: Mischa Barton is making her first red carpet appearance since being popped for a DUI in December. She's attending the premiere and party for Assassination of a High School President Monday at Marquee’s Boost Mobile Lounge.
REAL DEAL: Meg Ryan and LL Cool J costar in The Deal with Jason Ritter and William H. Macy. The party happens Tuesday at the Hollywood Life House.
This is by no means a complete list of Sundance goodies. I’ll have more for you tomorrow.

The TomKat Money Shot
Tom Cruise hit the premiere of Katie Holmes’ new movie, Mad Money, last night in Los Angeles.
And I was there, too.
Holmes wore Armani, while costar Diane Keaton looked fab in a cream Ralph Lauren pantsuit and matching towering Christian Louboutin heels. And my pal Queen Latifah showed off her bosom in a tight black Pamella Roland dress and sparkled in Chopard jewelry.
