Sex 'n' Youth Coming to a Theater Very Near You
First music finds a new life on the Net, now full-length movies. Clearly the Internet is the hottest place to be nowadays (good news for the lazy, bad news for your ass constantly sitting in a chair all day long). The Princess of Nebraska will be the first movie to premiere in its entirety on YouTube, Friday, Oct. 17. Its companion film, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, hits theaters in New Yawk on Sept. 19.
I dunno, maybe these studio gamblers are onto something vampin' and viral, as Princess is like an Asian interaction between Gossip Girl and Juno. It's all about a foreign exchange student from China who finds out she's pregs—welcome to the Jamie Lynn/Bristol club, babe, and what daringly results.
The director of both pics, Wayne Wang (now that's a name, so love the alliteration), was responsible for bringing The Joy Luck Club to the screen back in the '90s, so this ain't some first-time indie filmmaker hoping to score some buzz, we're talkin' actual pedigree. We live and breathe on this damn box, let's hope the film is absolutely brill with it's techno release and brings more people to give out stuff for free on the Web. Then we'll have something else to do online besides read Lindsay's latest blog post.
