Barack Obama's Fashionable Fundraising
It's fashionable to support Barack Obama.
Just ask Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour.
The Sex and the City star and Vogue empress are hosting a fundraising fashion show for the presidential contender during Fashion Week in New York City.
The Sept. 9 shindig at the Charles Nolan Studio will feature designs from Beyoncé and Tina Knowles for House of Dereon, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Juicy Couture, Narciso Rodriguez and Proenza Schouler, among others.
Back in June, Michelle Obama attended and spoke at a money raiser hosted by Wintour and her pal designer Calvin Klein.
No word if the potential first lady will be slipping into a pair of Jimmy Choos and a DVF wrapdress to attend next month's to-do.
Charlize: Yes to Politics, No to Marriage
Charlize Theron and her boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, have no problem walking the red carpet at the DNC in Denver to promote his movie, Battle in Seattle—but walking down the aisle is a whole other story.
E! News caught up with Townsend Tuesday at a screening of the political film he directed and quizzed him on whether he and Theron, both Obama supporters, would now marry, given that Theron once said that she wouldn't wed until gay marriage was legalized. (California has legalized same-sex unions.)
"I think she said 'nationwide,' " Townsend joked. "I don’t think she mentioned 'state.' I want everyone to know that was her thing. I do believe that if you love someone you should be able to get married, but it's got nothing to do with my life or her life."
Laughing, he added, "I love her. What more do you want? We are happy. Leave us alone!"

Jennifer Hudson a Star-Spangled Obama Supporter
Oh, say can you see Jennifer Hudson in Colorado?
The Oscar winner has been tapped to sing the national anthem Thursday, the night Barack Obama is set to address the increasingly star-studded Democratic National Convention for the first time as his party's official candidate for president of the United States.
Meaning, no more of that "presumptive nominee" stuff.

Trump on Biden: "Unusual Choice"
If Donald Trump has decided who he's going to support for president, he isn't saying.
However, he does have at least one thing to say about Barack Obama picking Joe Biden as his running mate.
"It was an unusual choice," Trump told me last night about Biden at the Los Angeles-area gala to celebrate the Trump International Hotel & Tower, his new gazillionaire building in Dubai. "But I wish them luck."
Sheryl Crow Gets Out the Vote
All she wants to do is have some fun...and promote civics.
Sheryl Crow is launching an online voter registration drive, giving away a free download of her new, politically charged tune, "Gasoline," to anyone who joins Rock the Vote's mailing list.
As an added incentive, the first 50,000 people who recruit three friends to register will also receive a digital copy of Crow's most recent album, Detours.

America Ferrera: An Ugly Side of Politics
America Ferrera, who once hit the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton, is now a very public supporter of Barack Obama, and for almost a year she's been urging young people to vote through Declare Yourself.
However, that doesn't mean the Ugly Betty star is hoping to declare her own candidacy for public office someday.
"I don't think running for office is anything I'm prepared for or could even prepare myself for," Ferrera, 24, told me earlier today, when we chatted about her work with Declare Yourself during a lunch break from filming her hit ABC series in New York City.

Burning Q's: A-List Dems & Olympic No-Shows
Why are most stars Democrats? You would think as high wage earners, they would be Republicans.
—Dawn
Remember: Top-paid actors are also members of a massive union—the Screen Actors Guild. Unions traditionally see themselves as underdogs against a more powerful class, in this case, studio heads, film financiers and other producers. Stars know that they wouldn't get half the perks they enjoy—rest periods, minimum pay—without their union.
So their pay may give them something in common with the Bush family, but their culture does not. Unless you count Heidi and Spencer; they're Republicans.
You see celebs attending all kinds of sporting events. So have any celebs been to the Olympic Games this year?

Colbert Really Sticks His Nose in It in Canton
They may be far and wide, but the many cities of Canton now have one common comedic thread.
"What does that sucker know about it? He's never been here anyway," said Canton, Texas, City Councilman John Fuller in response to Stephen Colbert's recent assertion that at least Canton, S.D.,—as wretched as it may be—isn't anything like the "incorporated outhouse" that is its northeast-Texas namesake.
"I wouldn't live anywhere else. The people here are genuine and friendly," Fuller told the local Tyler Morning Telegraph.
But not into hip, Colbert Report shout-outs, apparently...
Jackson Browne Files Grand Ol' Suit Against McCain
Jackson Browne is always up for a good protest.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has refused to take it easy, suing GOP presidential candidate John McCain and the Republican National Committee for using his biggest hit, "Running on Empty," in an Obama-slamming campaign ad without his permission.
Clooney Keeps His Digital Distance From Obama
As far as George Clooney is concerned, he and Scarlett Johansson are in the same boat.
"I have never texted or emailed Senator Obama. And I'll offer a million dollars to anyone who could prove otherwise. In fact, I've only talked to the Senator once in the last year and a half....on the phone," the Oscar-winning actor said Tuesday in a statement released by his publicist, Stan Rosenfield.
No, that's not just a random statement. It's in response to an item published by the Los Angeles Times Friday stating that Clooney "frequently text messages the Illinois senator with whom he's been friends for many years."
"I've spent more time with Senator McCain (he did my TV show) then [sic] I have with Senator Obama," the jocular thesp continued.
"I would hope that my friend John McCain would join me in condemning this kind of politics. Although I support Senator Obama I would never be dumb enough to offer policy advice to either candidate. They seem to be doing fine without me."
Clooney's Euro-Cash "Fun" Raiser
Wouldn't it be grand to hang out with George Clooney in Europe? Well, now you can—but it'll cost you a grand (plus airfare).
