Katy Perry had her new man, Russell Brand, by her side as she celebrated her 25th birthday this weekend with a party in West Hollywood.

And things are going so well between the two lovebirds that Mr. Brand is already bonding with Perry's parents.

"While the crowd was singing, 'Happy Birthday,' Russell had his arm around Katie's dad's shoulder," a partygoer says.

Another source said Perry gushed to a pal about her new beau: "Do you want to meet my boyfriend? He's hilarious!"

Where in the world was Quentin Tarantino?

The director hit the red carpet and screening of his new movie Inglourious Basterds last night in Hollywood but was a no-show at the big Mondrian hotel afterparty.

I'm told Tarantino drove himself to Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where he did plenty of press and photo ops with Brad Pitt & Co. He not only introduced the film but sat through the screening, too.

"He got back into his car after the movie but never came to the party," a source said. "No one knows where he went or why didn't show up. If anyone loves a party, it's Quentin."

When Elton John calls, the celebs come running.

Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish, along with British GQ Editor-in-Chief Dylan Jones and Alfred Dunhill menswear line, cohosted a party last night honoring British actors in Hollywood.

Who did I see? David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Beckinsale and her director hubby Len Wiseman and Eva Longoria all arrived together. They stayed for about an hour before heading off for dinner at Longoria’s new Beso restaurant in Hollywood (video, below).

Oh, and you can probably forget those tabloid tales suggesting Beckinsale and Wiseman have hit a rough patch in their marriage. They couldn’t have been more lovey-dovey!

Also on hand was Sharon Osbourne, Fantastic Four’s Welsh hottie Ioan Gruffudd, original supermodel Cheryl Tiegs and lovebirds Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger.

A Gossip Girl hottie. A fierce beachgoer. And Eddie Murphy celebrates the big 5-0. Read on to learn all about what some of our fave celebs were up to this weekend in Las Vegas...

Tao was jamming on Saturday night. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano held court in one corner, while Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian helped brother Rob celebrate his 22nd birthday with his Cheetah Girls girlfriend, Adrienne Bailon.

Also there? Wilmer Valderrama, Dave Annable, Joey Fatone, Chris Evans, Lindsay Price and Rick Fox.

During the day, some of the above mentioned celebs stripped down to their bathing suits. But not Siriano. He stayed protected from the sun in jeans and a T-shirt. Meanwhile, Chace Crawford (in Vegas to cheer on his sister, Candice, who is Miss Missouri, in the Miss USA Pageant) hung out with Price, and Fatone wore a T-shirt that read "I beat anorexia."

Eddie Murphy also celebrated a birthday in Vegas. On Friday night, he toasted turning 50 with about 10 friends, including Arsenio Hall, at the Bank at the Bellagio.

They sipped Grey Goose cocktails and Perrier Jouët champagne, and his cake was decorated with stills from some of his most famous flicks. Murphy & Co. didn’t exit the place until about 2:30 a.m.

Also on Friday, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett hit Jet after their headlining show at the Mirage. And yes, that was Garrett spending most of the night on the dance floor.

Another fight could be brewing on The Hills! This time it may be about, of all things, the presidential election.

Heidi Montag made headline news recently when she announced she supports Sen. John McCain.

Well, now Brody Jenner tells me he’s for Sen. Barack Obama.

“He’s just cool!” Jenner said at last night’s Wrigley party for the NBA Entertainment League at club LAX in Hollywood. “I mean, he’s young and I think people would take us more seriously with Iraq and everything...Personally, I think we’re either going to have a woman president or we’re going to have a black president, which are both amazing. Right now it’s time for change, and I think both of them are great. But [Obama] is cool. I just think he’s cool.”

A spokesperson for Obama could not be immediately reached.

Where in the world was Michelle Trachtenberg last night?

Not with Chace Crawford!

Trachtenberg and Crawford quickly shot down speculation that they’ve been getting cozy since she joined the cast of Gossip Girl.

At last night's event, when asked by New York magazine about the rumors, Trachtenberg said, "Tabloids make up crazy s--t."

And it was strictly a girls' night out for Trachtenberg last evening when she hit a VIP dinner at New York’s Macelleria restaurant for the Theory Icon Project followed by the opening of artist David Ellis’ “Flyaway” show at the nearby Theory store.

I’m told Trachtenberg spent most of her time hanging with publishing heiress and model Lydia Hearst (above) and the model daughters of rocker Keith Richards, Alexandra and Theodora.

Trachtenberg and Hearst left the party at about 10 pm. No word if they continued their partying elsewhere.

Also at the Ellis affair were Gina Gershon, Damon Dash, May Anderson and Bijou Phillips.

The Ghost Whisperer star said she and her fiancé, actor Ross McCall, haven’t been focusing on their wedding just yet. “I’m very excited, obviously,” she said. “We’ve talked about little details here and there, but now with [Ghost Whisperer] getting picked up, we have to wait until our hiatus.”

A way underdressed Dennis Rodman was a surprise guest at the event. “I wanted to come for one thing: the people here, the gay community,” the hoops star said. “You know what I’m saying?”

Kate Beckinsale has the hots for a trio of guys—and we're not talking about her hubby, director Len Wiseman. During the Film Independent's Spirit Awards on Saturday, I commented to Beckinsale (we were guests at the Motorola table with Aaron Eckhart and Josh Hartnett, among others) how handsome Piaget Producers Award winner Neil Kopp was. The Snow Angels starlet cracked about the young Kopp, “He doesn’t even look legal!”

But then she quickly swooned, “But what about the Jonas Brothers? I took my daughter to one of their concerts, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God! Hot!’”
