Week in Review: Speidi, Conan, Jon & Kate Bask in the Glow of New Moon

Ah, the weekend. Time to relax, reboot and reflect on all the celebrity news we inhaled over the past week. We start with a trip down memory lane—all the way back to Sunday, when a certain award show came to town, bringing with it a "Dick in a Box" tribute, a bare Austrian behind and, sigh, the first New Moon trailer...
1. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards were bigger than they'd been in ages—and more viral, thanks to Brüno's thong-clad butt and what turned out to be a faux furious reaction from Eminem. Most of the popcorn was handed out to Twilight and its delish young stars, and speaking of Pattz & Co...
2. What would a list of the hottest anything be without New Moon, for which the hype is only going to keep growing before its November (so far away...) premiere. Hell, we're even starting to talk about Eclipse. Fanggirls and boys can't get enough Robsten updates—and lucky for them, neither can the Awful Truth. (When AT's not busy determining the Most Awful Celeb, that is.)
3. Kill Bill's David Carradine died—suddenly, shockingly and possibly while engaged in autoerotic asphyxiation. His family and friends insist it wasn't a suicide, as Thai police first suggested.
4. Susan Boyle did not win Britain's Got Talent and she ended up on bed rest for her efforts. Which, of course, led the Answer Bitch to pass judgment on whether the runner-up is equipped—physically, mentally, emotionally—to take the heat that comes with worldwide fame.
5. Should they stay or should they go? Speidi just couldn't make up their minds about I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and they made a few enemies by quitting multiple times. Anyway, now it's up to the castmates they scorned (including Octomom's twin, Janice Dickinson—no offense, Octomom) to decide whether the see-'em-to-believe-'em duo get to stay on the show. Ratings for Thursday were up as people tuned in to bask in the horribleness, but turrns out we won't know Speidi's fate until Monday. Smart, NBC...
Eminem on Brüno Gag: "We Pulled It Off!"
Looks like 8 Mile wasn't an accident—that Eminem kid can really act.
The real Slim Shady is in full back-patting mode, letting the world know that he willingly was the butt of Sacha Baron Cohen's joke at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards ceremony.
"Sacha called me when we were in Europe, and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I'm a big fan of his work, so I agreed to get involved with the gag," Eminem tells RapRadar. "I'm thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it."
Cohen, in the guise of his flamboyant Austrian fashion reporter Brüno, and sporting angel wings and a hardly there thong, was carried by harness over the audience. Then he plunged ass-first into the rapper, who in turned stormed out of the venue and retreated to his trailer.
Many viewers and reporters thought Eminem had been punk'd, especially given his checkered relationship with homosexuality.
But E! Online's Marc Malkin immediately reported that the bit had been rehearsed, and the following day the show's head writer, Scott Aukerman, admitted as much on his blog, confessing that "the Eminem-Brüno incident was staged.
Brüno, Cohen's follow up to Borat, hits theaters July 10.

Taylor Lautner Itching to Date Megan Fox?
Obviously, a certain vampire movie dominated the MTV Movie Awards earlier this week, and I got a chance to chat it up with half the cast. Taylor Lautner gets really excited about the idea of Megan Fox being a fan and dishes about how much more action he gets in New Moon.
Hit the clip for the full story, and follow the jump for Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz talking Twilight vs. The Hills, plus Zac Efron, Will Ferrell and more.
Chris Isaak Has Gone to the Dogs
Rodney is always by Chris Isaak's side…or in his arms…or in his lap.
"He goes everywhere with us," the singer says, seen showing off the Maltese at the MTV Movie Awards. "He's gone to Paris. He's traveled more than my entire family has up to this point. We take him to restaurants. We take him to the movies. He's very mellow. He never bothers us."
Isaak isn't the only celeb with a case of puppy love. Check out our fab four-legged friend photo gallery to see which other stars are in the doghouse.
And we mean that in the nicest way.

Eminem Emerges from Brüno Butt Stunt Unscathed
Brüno's nearly bare derriere might have (fake) chased Eminem out of the MTV Movie Awards, but getting a face full of thong didn't hurt the real Slim Shady's staying power on the charts.
Eminem has been tirelessly hyping his Relapse for weeks, capped by the staged weekend stunt with Sacha Baron Cohen in which the rapper was the literal butt of the joke.
And all that work is paying off.

Shawn Johnson: Disco Ball Trophy in Pieces
Don't ask Shawn Johnson if you could see the disco ball trophy she won on Dancing With the Stars.
The mirrored masterpiece is in the repair shop.
"It's actually in pieces right now," her pro partner, Mark Ballas, said at the MTV Movie Awards.
WTF?
Wonder If Robert Pattinson's Available for the Tonys?
Robert Pattinson just may be the best thing that happened to awards shows since Billy Crystal.
With Pattinson and his Twilight mates heaped with buckets of ceremonial popcorn at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, the show, which also featured the debut of teaser trailer for the vampire gang's upcoming New Moon, scored a whopping 76 percent more viewers than last year.
Its average audience of 5.3 million was the show's biggest since 2004.
This is the second awards show this year in which a little bit of Pattinson has helped produce a whole lot of ratings. February's Oscars, featuring Pattinson on presenting duty, saw its numbers zoom among teens and kids.
Sacha Baron Cohen's Brüno's fall into Eminem's lap, meanwhile, would like to think it aided the MTV Movie Awards' cause, too. According to MTV, the incident was its site's most-watched award clip at one point today—drawing even more traffic than the New Moon trailer.
If such a thing is possible.
Eclipse: Casting for Third Twilight Flick Under Way
Casting for the third Twilight movie has begun.
We got our hands on a casting notice for at least three characters in Eclipse.

Zac Efron: Ready for Some...Cross-Dressing?!
Zac Efron really wants to be in girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens's upcoming action flick, Sucker Punch, because he's dying to work with director Zach Snyder.

Twilight, Teens Dominate MTV Movie Awards
The 2009 MTV Movie Awards may have resembled the Teen Choice Awards, but that doesn't mean the show was any less entertaining.
Host Andy Samberg presided over a fast-paced evening filled with plenty of songs, surprises and salty language.
Let's get to the highlights...
Twilighttastic: To the surprise of, well, no one, Twilight dominated the show with a whopping five Golden Popcorns, and Rob Pattinson popped up onstage throughout the festivities. Kristen Stewart was also a scene stealer—the actress took home the prize for Best Actress and proceeded to drop the trophy onstage, saying, "So I was just about as awkward as you thought I would be."
Brüno Bottoms Out at MTV Movie Awards
In a night otherwise given over to Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and all things Twilight, the high-flying appearance of a winged Sacha Baron Cohen created real tension as his flying harness dropped his thong-clad Brüno right into the lap of Eminem, who didn't seem to enjoy the visit.
A source tells E! Online's Marc Malkin that the rapper was aware that Brüno would be falling on him—but not while wearing a butt-baring thong. And though Eminem stormed out of the Gibson Amphitheatre, the hip-hop star didn't leave; he hung out in his trailer until the show was nearly done.
As you ponder whether Slim Shady's outrage was real or just a backdoor way of promoting his new album, check out the highlights in our 2009 MTV Movie Awards gallery.
Seating Dramz at the MTV Movie Awards
It's supposed to be the young and fun awards show, but tonight's MTV Movie Awards seems to be the same old clash of bloated Hollywood egos—at least judging by the preshow seating arrangement squabbles.
According to gossip mavens at Page Six, "A producer looked at the original seating chart and realized the whole thing had to be reworked because so many people in the house hated one another."
Read on to get your fill of the ill will.
