Meet the real punisher. Denzel Washington plays a haunted former government operative who has only two friends left: Jack Daniels and fellow ex-officer Christopher Walken. When Walken lands him a job as a bodyguard for rich rugrat Dakota Fanning, he begins to reclaim his courage under fire. But when she's abducted, it also reunites his, uh, killer charms.
Using guns, knives, rocket launchers, grenades, etc., his revenge plays out in a bloodbath of fire, guts and gore. But Washington's charisma and Fanning's old-soul charm hoist this revenge film above the rest. So, while you can knock director Tony Scott for his over-the-top, gritty rough-cut directing style, you can't deny that this is one hot action flick.
