Clive Owen Talks 'Em Up

Admit it. When you saw Clive Owen ask Julia Roberts explicit questions about her extracurricular sex life in Closer, you wanted to jump into the screen and leap on top of him. He is hot. And as it turns out, he gives good junket, too. Naturally—he's a Brit, and they talk pretty. Here are my favorite interactions from our interviews for Shoot 'Em Up.

Did you create a backstory for your character?
No.

Why Clive Rules:  It's refreshing to see an actor resist the opportunity to expound on all his mental activity and diary making.

Was it director Michael Davis' personality that pulled you in?
That was certainly a key part of it, yeah. But it was more the originality of the script from the word go. But Michael hadn't done a film on this scale, so the concern is, Can Michael actually pull this off? It's one thing writing, "This is John Woo's wet dream." John Woo is a master of the action genre. Then I met Michael...I was like, "One, if he doesn't make the film, he's going to explode. I don't want that to happen to the guy. And two, he's ready to make this film."

Why Clive Rules:  He used the phrase wet dream.

Did you watch Davis' previous films?
I haven't actually, no.

They're pretty good.
Are they?

Why Clive Rules:  He's honest and suspicious.
