Are You Smarter Than a Gossip Columnist? Helping Hand Edition!
Believe it or not, prime-time starlets have hearts, too! Well, some of 'em do, anyway. One of these TV hotties doesn't always think about herself—she manages to cram in some karma for the sake of helping others, how sweet!
Can ya guess who it is?
Mischa Barton, Courtney Love Spark Up Soiree
Thankfully, this party never really caught fire.
Mischa Barton was just one of the celebs spotted lighting up a cigarette at Alexander Wang's Fashion Week soiree.
What's the big deal, you ask? The event was held at a Mobil gas station in NYC, and the celebs were directly next to the gas pumps.
Other celeb offenders at the hipster-chic bash included Jared Leto and Courtney Love, who also performed at the party to not-so-rave reviews.
"Her rendition of 'Bette Davis Eyes' (belted out with the help of cue cards) was painfully off-key," a source tells E! News, adding that the crowd still seemed into it.
Luckily, the party eventually fizzled out on its own.

Mischa Barton's "Silly" Hospitalization Continues to Confound
That Mischa Barton is just so wise.
Perhaps that's why her meltdown that sent her to the psychiatric ward is being blamed on her wisdom teeth. Still.
The Beautiful Life starlet appeared on The View today and was appropriately grilled on the situation. Instead of giving Barbara Walters and the other ladies who coffee-klatch stock answers or keeping her mouth shut, she opened way wide, including talk of pain meds and suicide (we think, kinda, sorta)…

Mischa Barton Dabbles With Drugs in The Beautiful Life
Just because Mischa Barton's had some well-publicized personal issues lately doesn't mean the powers that be behind her new CW show, The Beautiful Life, are going to shy away from certain close-to-home storylines.
The big question is: Now that we know Mischa's not doing a disappearing act—though producers teased someone will in the pilot—will they be holding back the types of stories one might expect a young model in New York to go through?
Here's what executive producer Mike Kelley told us today at the CBS and CW special online screening session about Mischa's storylines and a possible Gossip Girl crossover episode with The Beautiful Life...
The Beautiful Life Producer Ashton Kutcher Defends Star Mischa Barton
To hear Ashton Kutcher tell it, everything is copacetic with The Beautiful Life star Mischa Barton. Sure, she was recently hospitalized, and she wasn't at the Television Critics Association press tour this morning, and she's been plagued by "not! stable!" rumors since her O.C. days, but aplusk isn't letting anybody talk smack about his girl. Ashton told reporters, "[Mischa] was never unavailable for a day of work...Mischa's in New York working today."
Oh, and did we mention that Ashton also described Mischa, who plays supermodel Sonja Stone on the CW's upcoming fashionista series, as a grande dame of TV drama? Well, he didn't actually call her a dame, but close enough...
Mischa Barton Dresses Up, Parties On
Looks like Mischa Barton is feeling better.
After being released from an L.A. hospital for a mystery medical condition, the actress headed to the Big Apple.
First, she showed off a new brunette 'do. And just last night, she stepped out sporting a crazy cutout dress.
Misch hit up the Music Unites party, sponsored by Arizona Iced Tea.
So was she back to her old party ways?

Source Claims Mischa Barton "Tried to Kill Herself"
Mischa Barton's recent hospital stay was due to "suicidal" actions, claims a source very close to the star's drama. Also, the insider asserts, the attempt may have coincided with Mischa's bosses at the CW's The Beautiful Life deciding they no longer desired her services.
Even though Barton's now out and about, though not very publicly, we're told she's still recovering from a very dark period.
"She tried to kill herself," claims the source close to Barton, who also asserts that Mischa had also been let go—and later rehired—from the soap.
"She was being crazy that day [when she went to Cedars Sinai Medical Center]," says another knowledgeable source, who had direct dealings with Ms. B right before she entered Cedars in Los Angeles, reportedly involuntarily under a psychiatric hold, for "medical reasons."
"Absolutely false," insists Barton's rep, "your source is far from knowledgeable, as nothing they've told you is true, inclusive of the suicide attempt."
When I pressed for what did put Barton in the hospital, he replied...
Is Mischa Barton Dodging Publicity for The Beautiful Life?
Mischa Barton is out of the hospital, but she might not be at full capacity...yet.
According to the talent list for the CW's press day at the upcoming TV Critics Association summer tour, Mischa Barton will not be joining her costars on the panel for her upcoming series The Beautiful Life.
Costars Sara Paxton, Corbin Bleu and Elle Macpherson will be attending, along with executive producer Ashton Kutcher, but Ben Hollingsworth (who plays Paxton's love interest) and Barton (who plays snooty supermodel Sonja) are nowhere to be found.
Now, according to the CW, "due to the production schedule Elle Macpherson, Sara Paxton and Corbin Bleu will be the only actors at TCA from The Beautiful Life," but a pessimist might suspect that Barton's in no shape to headline a publicity tour, much less a major broadcast-network series.
So what does the star's absence mean for the series? Here's what we're hearing...
Update
Mischa Barton Out of Psych Ward, Ready for Life
Ashton Kutcher and Mischa Barton's publicist are on the same wavelength…and if it were on any topic other than the starlet's health, we would suggest her publicist reassess a few life decisions.
Anyway, both are of the same mind that Barton, after a not-that-brief hospitalization for a still unconfirmed "nonemergency" "medical issue," is slowly but surely making her way back.
Craig Schneider tells E! News that Barton is "improving" and "doing well" since her discharge from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was first hauled July 15. He declined to say exactly when she was discharged.
And while Schneider has remained mum on reports that Barton's hospitalization was an involuntary psychiatric hold (à la Britney "5150" Spears), he did confirm that the former O.C. thesp has every intention of rejoining the Kutcher-produced CW drama The Beautiful Life when it resumes production in the coming weeks.
Speaking of the artist currently known as aplusk…
Rachel Bilson: Not Talking to Mischa Barton
They may have played BFFs Summer and Marissa on The O.C., but in real life, Rachel Bilson doesn't keep up with Mischa Barton.
Rach was walking down Sunset Boulevard after leaving Chateau Marmont when paps asked if she's talked to Mischa, who was recently hospitalized for a mystery "medical issue" and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
"I haven't spoken to her," Rachel replied to the paps' queries.
So what's the latest from those who are staying in touch with Mischa?
Mischa Barton's Health Improving—but How's Her Outlook Doing?
Here's hoping Mischa Barton's head is feeling better.
With regard to the undisclosed condition that landed her in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's psychiatric department last week, rep Craig Schneider told E! News Tuesday that the troubled 23-year-old is "improving and still under care, with the intentions of being able to resume production on The Beautiful Life next week."
Interestingly, the start of production on the hotties-with-issues drama was pushed back from July 22 to July 31—but not because of Barton, the network insisted.
A CW rep told E! News yesterday that sets are still being built and the delay had nothing to do its recently rehabbed star, who plays a supermodel struggling to stay on top of her game in the face of fierce competition.
Yeah, yeah, we'll say it... ironic.
