Mimi has really come to play on her version of Foreigner's rock-ballad classic "I Want to Know What Love Is." She's scouting the elusive "L" in a packed baseball stadium, watching her tiny self sing in the center of the diamond from the huge video replay monitors.

If the setting is grandiose, her musical taste is clearly down-to-earth. She shows restraint in the verses and the first chorus with a breathy, emotional voice, before the inevitable pyrotechnics later in the song: the gospel choir eruption, hitting the dog-whistle high notes, the naked emotionalism mixed with amazing technical accomplishment—you know, the whole Mariah Carey thing.

It definitely microwaves our burrito, but what did you think? Is this an instant classic or instantly forgettable cheese? Let us know in the comments section.

Mariah Carey was out on the beach yesterday in Los Angeles, shooting a music video in a too-small bathing suit cut down to her navel, along with some serious bling. You know, just normal Mariah beachwear...video shoot or no video shoot.

The photo agency's caption explains the situation like so: "the Precious pop star oozed glamour." We're not sure if that's exactly what she's oozing—maybe it's more like desperation—but for the sake of the magical creature that is Mariah, we'll stick with glamour.

Rihanna may have had it rough, but, unfortunately, hers is not the only abuse story on the docket this week.

Mariah Carey appeared on Larry King Live last night and admitted she's faced her own difficult relationships. "Abuse has several categories," she tells the host when he asks if she's ever been in a situation similar to Rihanna's. "[I've been abused] Emotionally, mentally."

Not unlike the battered pop star, Carey says the hardest part was breaking free from ex-husband Tommy Mottola (whom she doesn't mention by name but very clearly alludes to).

"It's scary," she admits. "I just think you get into a situation and you feel locked in…For me, to really get out, it was difficult because there was connection that was not only a marriage, but a business thing where the person was in control of my life."

When asked for her thoughts on Rihanna's struggles, she reacts the way many of us have.

"Yikes," she says calmly, later adding, "I can't imagine what she went through."

The unstoppable—and, as it turns out, untoppable—Barbra Streisand surprisingly beat out both Mariah Carey and vampire (and bookmakers') favorite Paramore to top the Billboard album charts this week.

Which means you may not exactly be thrilled, but your (grand)mom sure is.

Babs' Love Is the Answer silenced both Paramore's Brand New Eyes and Mrs. Cannon's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, marking the singer-actor-director-personal doll shop proprietor's ninth No. 1 on the charts.

That said, no one is doubting the singer's impressive set of pipes, but—frighteningly jarring lighting and quick edits aside—did she actually utilize them on America's Got Talent last night?

Well, that's debatable.

Clearly appearing on the reality show as a favor to the host—her hubby, Nick Cannon—the songbird robotically rendered her new single, "Obsessed," better known as that track about Eminem. We would have expected her to belt out her best on his behalf. Instead, she seemed tentative and stiff, to say the least.

As far as Nick Cannon is concerned, Eminem is crying out for his own broken soul.

At least that's one of the proverb-invoking sentiments Mariah Carey's hubby twittered today in response to Slim Shady's latest dig at him and the missus.

"Quote of the day: 'Never argue with fools because from a distance people cant tell who is who,' " went the first tweet from Cannon, posted early Friday afternoon.

Good point, especially considering Eminem's latest diss track, "The Warning," was a response to Carey donning a hoodie and goatee to slam him in her video for the single "Obsessed."

But gentleman that he is, Cannon wasn't going to sit idly by while Eminem rapped about doin' the nasty with his wife—albeit back in the day, but still pretty graphic stuff—and then threatened to unleash nudie pics on the world (presumably starting with the poor, unsuspecting blogosphere).

Cannon's not going to kick Eminem's ass or anything, though. That's what the wrath of God is for.

Maybe Mariah Carey should've just let sleeping dawgs lie.

Because Eminem has once again reached into his seemingly bottomless bag of rhyming celebrity disses and pulled out a new diatribe directed at Mr. and Mrs. Nick Cannon. And though he's never needed a good reason to drop names, this time he's firing back at Carey's Slim Shady-channeling video for her single "Obsession."

"I got the exact same tattoo that's on Nick's back, I'm obsessed now, oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee," raps Eminem on his new track "The Warning."

He goes on to gloat about the time Mariah "was wild 'n' out before Nick" and when he himself gave Carey "somethin' to smile about." And it gets grosser from there.

So why again is Eminem trying to shove his alleged sexual history down Cannon's throat?
