Candy Spelling's Pals Defend Her Against Tori's "Trash"

Candy Spelling doesn’t need to attack her daughter, Tori, for her new memoir. The television dynasty matriarch has her friends to do that for her.

Yesterday, I told you how Candy has been answering questions on her website about Tori’s book. Candy has kept it clean and polite, refusing to bash her daughter over some less than flattering claims about the family.

But that doesn’t mean Candy’s friends don’t get a say.

“It’s just hard to believe that Tori would write this 'trash' about her mom,” family friend and former Vega$ television star Phyllis Davis wrote in a letter to Candy and posted on the site. “I guess she would not sell books if she told the truth.”

Another family friend says Tori twisted her words against Candy. “My Dad had a good saying,” the friend said, according to a post on the site. “He said, ‘It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.’ Well, maybe it’s not what you write, it’s how you write and portray it!”

Hardly surprising then that these ladies weren't on hand to help Tori celebrate the release of the book last night at L.A.'s Kitson boutique. Instead, fellow reality-TV stars Kim Kardashian, Adrianne Curry, Christopher Knight and Calpernia Addams attended. Also there were her second husband, Dean McDermott, their son, Liam, and dog, Mimi LaRue dressed in a pink Little Lily dress.

Tori declined to comment about her mom's website.
