Dancing with the Stars' Olympic Dreams
Is Dancing with the Stars going for Olympic gold?
It could be—if judge Carrie Ann Inaba has her way.
Inaba would love to see Nadia Comaneci, the five-time Olympic gold medalist, compete next season. “She was in the Olympics, and she got 10s when she was so young,” Inaba gushed at Les Deux on Monday, during a combined birthday party and celebration for her new reality-show competition, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann. “I would love to see her!”
I would, too, so I put in a call to Comaneci herself, who just told me she has talked with DWTS producers about competing. “I’m dying to do it,” she said. “I love the show.”
So, who else would Inaba like to see? Olympic figure-skating champ Michelle Kwan. “A skater—that would be kind of awesome,” she said.
However, Kwan said she’s not ready to put on her dancing shoes yet. She’s too busy with school and work to think about it right now, but she said, “I never say never. So, don’t be surprised to see me on the show one day.”
Other boldfaced names at the PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur-hosted shindig included Cris Judd and former DWTS contestant Mario Lopez.
Meanwhile, Hairspray star and Golden Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky said she’d love to be a guest judge on DWTS someday, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have confidence in her dancing skills. “People think women who are plus sizes are out of shape, and that’s not true,” she said last night at Slim-Fast’s Style Your Slim fashion show in Hollywood. “Hairspray made me into a dancer, and it totally toned my body up and gave me endurance. Just because I’m plus size doesn’t mean I can’t run a track with the best of them.”
