Breaking! Britney's MTV Magic

I told you so!

I broke the news on Monday that MTV has lined up Britney Spears to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards Sept. 9 in Las Vegas.

While reps for the singer and MTV have neither confirmed nor denied my scoop, illusionist Criss Angel went ahead and confirmed it when he shot down rumors that he and Spears might be more than just friends.

After Angel and Spears were spotted together earlier this week, rumors circulated that they may have been hooking up. Angel told People magazine today the embattled pop singer has asked him for help with the upcoming MTV appearance.

A rep for MTV is still not commenting.
