More Fisticuffs at Grey's?

It sounds like the off-camera drama on Grey's Anatomy may be changing what's happening onscreen.
Just in case you don't know the backstory, here it is: Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington reportedly got into an argument recently that blew up into a physical altercation between the two men. Later it was reported Washington had described one of their castmembers with a homophobic slur. Washington denies he used the offensive term, and it's never really been reported who was disparaged. However, last week T.R. Knight, who plays Dr. George O'Malley, publicly revealed he was gay.
So, no surprise that tension is high on the set, right?
A scene said to have been written long before McDreamy-gate certainly hasn't helped smooth things over. It includes a fight, this one involving the female contingent of Dr. Callie Torres, Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Izzie Stevens, according to sources. "Callie is getting physical with Meredith because she thinks Meredith told George that she slept with McSteamy," one source says. "It's written very funny because Izzie pulls on Callie's hair to get her off of Meredith."
Except no one is laughing now. "They are changing the scene so it is less physical, because they don't want people to think about the Dempsey-Washington fight," the source says. "The writers are not happy about it at all."
A rep for the show declined to comment.
