Get a Load of This Guy

Warren Beatty has some rather descriptive—but frank—advice for men who want to have kids. "Shoot. Your. Load," he says. "Because life ain't gonna wait. Believe me, I strung out my adolescence for quite some time."

That's for sure.

As we all know, the legendary actor, director, writer and political activist's horndog days ended when he met Annette Bening. On their first date, over ice cream, "I just say to her, 'Do you want to have kids with me?'" Beatty told writer Michael Hainey in the new GQ, on stands Oct. 28. "And she says, 'Yes.' "

George Clooney may now be considered the new Cary Grant, but Beatty had that honor bestowed upon him decades ago by Grant himself. "I was at a party, and I had three or four women around me," Beatty said. "Cary Grant was out on the dance floor with a woman, and I was watching him, and at one point he sweeps by with the woman and says, with a wink, 'I used to be you.' "

For film aficionados, Beatty revealed he ended up in at least two of his movies by default. He unsuccessfully tried luring Bob Dylan for Bonnie & Clyde, and even though Beatty wrote the lead for him in Heaven Can Wait, boxing legend Muhammad Ali turned him down.

And now, it's 69-year-old family man Beatty turning 'em down. Quentin Tarantino wrote Kill Bill for him. "I love Quentin," he said. "But do you think I'm going to leave my life to spend a year in China?"
