O'Donnell revealed earlier this month on The Howard Stern Show that she'd actually be staying at a Trump property in Chicago when she's in the Windy City to tape her upcoming talk show for the OWN network.
But just last night, O'Donnell announced that her plans have changed. "She is NOT going to be living or renting a Donald Trump apartment," her rep said in an email to The Advocate. The rep also told us earlier today that O'Donnell is still apartment-hunting.
What happened? It has nothing to do with their old feud. O'Donnell's plans to live in a Trump building didn't sit too well with many gays and lesbians because Trump, a potential Republican candidate for the White House in 2012, opposes same-sex marriage.
Trish Bendix, managing editor of gay website AfterEllen.com, blogged on the Huffington Post shortly after O'Donnell's Stern appearance. "Both OWN and Harpo are owned, of course, by Oprah Winfrey, who has been a staunch LGBT supporter," she wrote. "Surely there are several other Chicago hotels that have a penthouse available for Rosie, ones that don't come along with putting money into the pockets of someone who is likely to use them to fund a presidential campaign working against equality."
GLAAD also urged supporters to boycott Trump-related television and his properties.
"Rosie O'Donnell has sent an important message to the majority of Americans—gay and straight—who don't agree with Donald Trump's statements against marriage equality for all loving and committed couples," GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said in a statement. "Fair-minded people should think twice about supporting a businessman who courts our dollars but advocates denying gay and lesbian couples protections that all families need to take care of each other."
Trump did not immediately comment for this story. Maybe he was too busy looking for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.
