Belt it out, Kate Walsh!

Yes, the Private Practice star will be appearing in Grey's Anatomy's upcoming musical episode. Yes, she will be singing at Seattle Grace.

However...

She won't be giving folks like Lea Michele a run for her Glee money.

"Put it this way, I had to take voice lessons for this," Walsh told me at the Women in Film pre-Oscar event at Soho House. "I'm in the chorus. You're not going hear any solos from me."

Walsh wrapped her work on the episode on Thursday. She was under doctor's orders to keep mum on specifics. "After I stopped crying, it was really fun," she cracked.

She laughed when I asked if she's at all inspired to pursue a music career. "That's right," she smiled. "I'm going to release a Christmas album. Yes, my goal at 43 is to be a triple threat—a singer slash dancer slash actor."

Also at the WIF soirée (sponsored by M.A.C., Perrier-Jouët and MaxMara) were Halle Berry, Amy Adams, Hailee Steinfeld, Melissa Leo, Dale Dickey and Brenda Song.

Meanwhile, in other Shonda Rhimes television news, Kerry Washington says she wasn't on the hunt for a television series when she signed on to star in In Crisis, Rhimes' upcoming series about a crisis management consultant.

"I was never like, Oh, it's time to look at TV," Washington told me at the Elle Green Room at the Independent Spirit Awards. "I just read a brilliant f--king script and it happened to be for TV."
