Let's be clear: Javier Bardem was robbed—robbed, I tell you!—yesterday when he did not receive a Best Actor nod at the Golden Globe nominations for his heartwrenching performance in Biutiful. (More on that in a minute....)

But first let's get to the fact that the sexy star and his baby-bumpin' wife Penélope Cruz were out with some famous friends last night...

While Cruz skipped a special screening of Biutiful at the DGA in West Hollywood, she was by Bardem's side for the VIP afterparty at the nearby Palihouse hotel. She wore a simple black pantsuit and a crisp white button-up top. She had just a little makeup on and her hair was down. She was all smiles as she plopped herself onto a couch.

Bardem tended to Cruz, bringing her a glass of water and at times, caressing her back and shoulders.

The parents-to-be spent a couple of hours chatting with many of the 100 or so guests, including Melanie Griffith and daughter Stella, Camilla Belle, Milla Jovovich and City Island star Andy Garcia. The two were the last to leave the party shortly after midnight along with the film's director Alejandro González Iñárritu and his wife, Maria.

Bardem has said that he and Cruz will head to Spain for the holidays.

Now, let's discuss the Golden Globes: Why on earth wasn't Bardem nominated?

In the movie, he stars as a dying man desperate to get his life in order.

His performance is intense, magical and infused with a sweetness that stays with you long after you've walked out of the theater. At last night's screening, many in the audience were heard crying throughout the movie. Almost everyone remained in their seats until the very last of the end credits rolled.

I am not saying the actors who did get nominated aren't deserving of the recognition, but I am completely and utterly confused that Bardem was not among them. It makes absolutely no sense.

While Biutiful is up for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language film (whew!), Bardem was, simply put, robbed!
