Vince Vaughn may think his jokes bring people together, but is that really the intent when he dismisses electric cars as "gay" in his upcoming flick, The Dilemma?
Just yesterday, the actor finally commented on the big gay brouhaha fueled by Anderson Cooper earlier this week during an appearance on Ellen.
Now for the rebuttal, we give you GLAAD...
First, a quick summary: Vaughn says he's totally against bullying, but that jokes "about our differences" could bring people together.
"Jokes can bring people together, but they can also push us apart," countered GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios. "When 'gay' is used as a pejorative, it frequently sends a message—particularly to youth and their bullies—that being gay is wrong and something to laugh at. We invite Vince Vaughn to work with us and help ensure that gay youth and those perceived to be gay aren't in harm's way by such jokes."
Still no word if the gay joke will be cut from the movie. A rep for the studio declined to comment. Director Ron Howard has kept mum on the controversy.
But the big question remains: Nevermind whether the gay joke is in or out, what we wanna know is The Dilemma even a good movie?
