What's with Jersey Shore and pinkeye?
First, Vinny came down with a case of the nasty condition when they started filming the MTV reality show, and now I just got word that The Situation is currently at home suffering from the unsightly ailment.
And that will explain why you won't be seeing the show's resident abs man during an MTV special that the rest of the cast taped earlier today with Michael Cera...
It all started because Cera is apparently a fan of the controversial Garden State series. So much so that when it came time to promote his new movie, Youth in Revolt, on MTV, he insisted he get to hang with the cast. (MTV producers, I'm told, love the movie so much, they said Cera could do whatever he wanted on the network.)
So early this morning, Cera along with Snooki, JWoww, Ronnie, Sammi Sweetheart and Vinny gathered at the Hotel on Rivington in New York City for the taping.
"It's literally Michael hanging out with the cast," a source says. "They're shooting all day, so who knows what will happen."
As of early this afternoon, Cera had still not been given his Jersey Shore name, but our source says he and Vinny did talk about how pale they are, despite being of Sicilian heritage.
"They also got in a hot tub at the end of the shoot and Michael got a 'guido' makeover," our source said.
Out this Friday, Youth in Revolt is a coming-of-age story about a young man (Cera) on a quest to lose his virginity. Described as a "tasty comic bonbon" by Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers, the flick is based on C.D. Payne's book of the same name and also stars Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, Jean Smart and beautiful newcomer Portia Doubleday.
Cera also invited the Jersey cast to attend the film's premiere tomorrow night in NYC.
In less lofty cinematic endeavors, Gawker reports that Zero Tolerance Entertainment plans to release a porn parody of Jersey Shore.
Even if Pauly D told us he'd seriously consider posing for Playgirl and JWoww would do the same for Playboy, we have a feeling they are not jumping at the chance to play themselves in the upcoming adults-only project.
At least we hope they're not.
