Dancing With the Stars' Mya: What She'd Do With the Disco Ball Trophy

Mya, Dmitry Chaplin, Dancing with the Stars, DWTS ABC/Adam Larkey

What does one do after spending about 14 weeks working on Dancing With the Stars?

Get some much needed rest.

"I definitely need a break to allow my ankle to heal properly for about a couple of weeks," Mya told me earlier today during a break from rehearsing tonight's finale.

Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin proved last night why they are this season's best dancers. They nabbed two perfect scores for their paso doble and the megamix, and a 27 for their Hairspray freestyle.

And Mya is also fun to talk to—no matter how tired she may be. I'm going to miss waking up to her voice every Tuesday morning. Read on for the last of our exclusive weekly chats.

What was it like having Len Goodman come in and help you and Dmitry on your paso doble?
Oh my gosh—he was hilarious. I thought he was going to be a stickler, and very strict, and yell at us, but he was so nice. I got to see him dance.

What was it like dancing with Mr. Grumpy Judge?
He's not so grumpy. [Laughs.] He has to be critical of you, so I guess that's considered grumpy. He can be pretty harsh but he's honest in the way he feels...He comes from the traditional ballroom, the older tradition, and they don't play, so he knows what he's talking about. He's just not into showy stuff and gimmicky stuff and he voices that opinion, and says, "Just dance!"

Are you kicking yourself for not insisting on doing something else for the freestyle?
Not at all, because basically what I would want to do would probably realistically take two months to perfect! I'm thinking tour, and this is Dancing With the Stars and it takes four days for us to learn choreography. And four numbers this week, it probably wasn't even realistic. But I definitely saw something a lot more spectacular. I'm not kicking myself at all.

So, if you win tonight, where will you put the disco ball trophy?
I'll probably put it at my school, the Mya Arts and Tech Foundation. Something to give the kids an example of hard work and dedication, and then maybe even share my ballroom experience with them.
