Dancing's Mya: I Can Eat Whatever I Want...for Now
Sure, Mya and Dmitry Chaplin grabbed a perfect 30 with their '70s-themed samba on last night's Dancing With the Stars, but the singer says Donny Osmond was the real star of the night.
"Donny and Kym Johnson rocked the house," Mya told me earlier this morning. "It was hilarious with Donny and his Jheri curl. He was like Michael Jackson, George Michael, Prince and Boy George all wrapped up in one."
But Chaplin's mustache also made quite the impression. Read on for more of this week's installment of my exclusive morning-after chats with Ms. Mya…
First, we've got to talk about Len Goodman. You finally won him over. He gave you two 10s last night!
I can't believe it, especially on our Latin dance. I thought maybe we'd get three 10s this season at some point, but only for a standard dance because it has the technical side.
Were you surprised to hear Carrie Ann say she didn't believe that you really wanted to win?
I was like, "Really? What made you think that?" So I went out to the floor with an extra fire to show her.
And you did. She said you convinced her.
That's all I needed to hear.
Dmitry's mustache. It was very '70s porn star.
I tried not to look at him too much, because…well, it definitely kept a smile on my face. It was ridiculously funny but appropriate.
Your mom was there last night?
Yeah, she came to the show for the first time. I saw her before I started my first number, and I was like, "Please don't let me see her." I emailed her to tell my family, who were there, not to yell my name while I am performing. Do not stand up, do not make crazy sounds, don't call out my nickname. So they were very very quiet.
We haven't spoken about this in a while, but are you eating anything you want these days?
Oh my god—I just had two Krispy Kremes. I had a ton of Italian food last night. It was great.
I spoke to Kelly Osbourne the other day, and she said the hardest part of Dancing With the Stars right now is knowing that it's going to be coming to an end soon. Are you feeling the same?
Definitely—especially the food [Laughs]. We won't have that freedom that we're having right now because we're putting in so many hours that you burn it off. You can basically indulge at this point. We will be going through a withdrawal process. I think I may have to sign up for some kind of rehab.
Susan Boyle is performing on tonight's show. Have you met her yet?
I got to meet her yesterday. She was so nice. I think she was still nervous. She still has that new novice-ness about her, sort of like a kid who has stepped into a whole new world.
