Even if Victoria Beckham was a two-time guest judge for American Idol, she insists she had no intention of trying to replace Paula Abdul on a full-time basis.

"Ellen [DeGeneres] is going to be fantastic," Beckham, 35, told me last night while promoting her latest dress collection during Fashion's Night Out at New York's Bergdorf Goodman.

"For me, I just love the fact that I could dip in and dip out. It was great," she said. "I saw so much talent, and to be a part of making someone's dream come true was exciting for me."

But how did Beckham handle having to crush someone's dream? Keep reading to find out, plus she reveals what hot soccer hubby David…smells like!

Like Abdul, Beckham did her best to be the more optimistic judge on the panel. "I found something good to say about most people," she said. "I'm a very spiritual person and I believe you get back what you put out there. I believe in positivity. So even if someone was really not that great, they might have a great pair of shoes on that I really appreciated. I can find something good to say about most people."

Idol hasn't been the only thing on Beckham's plate these days. In addition to the dress collection, she and David just launched Signature Story, a new line of women's and men's fragrances.

David doesn't get too involved with developing the scents. "He's not interested in the process, which I love, so I just chase him around the house, spraying fragrance on him to see what he likes and doesn't like," Beckham said with a laugh.

Not like he needs much spritzing. "David smells great all the time," Beckham cooed. "He never actually smells bad. You'd think after all the running around on the field and everything it could be bad, but he always smells good."

As for her fashion business, Beckham said we won't be seeing stand-alone Victoria Beckham boutiques anytime soon. "That is a such a long ways away at the moment," she said. "We're such a small group of people. I have an atelier set up in London and we're very, very small. I'm a complete control freak so I have to be able to do everything myself, so I think I have to wait a while to do a big boutique."

Besides, bigger business would mean less time with her and David's three sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 7, and Cruz, 4.

"All I'm thinking about right now is collection, collection, collection and checking in to see if the kids are OK," said Beckham, who will make her first appearance on The View on Monday.

"We iChat, but I'm there 90 percent of the time. When I'm traveling, my mum's there or David's mum is there. My trips are short and sharp. I get a lot done in not very much time."
