Donald Trump Defends Miss California, Calls Gay-Marriage Question "a Bit Unlucky"

If the whole pageant thing doesn't work out, sounds like Miss California might be up for an Apprenticeship.

Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe franchise, finally has lifted his silence about Carrie Prejean's oppositional answer to the question of gay marriage, which she claims cost her the Miss USA title.

He disagrees with that theory.

"Miss California has done a wonderful job, that was her belief," Trump told Fox News. "It wasn't a bad answer, that was simply her belief."

He also sympathizes with the much-maligned tiara-wearer, saying she was "a bit unlucky" to get the tricky question in the first place and that no matter how she answered, "she was going to get killed."

Prejean herself has defended her response, standing by her statements that "marriage should be between a man and a woman."

The actual pageant winner, Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton, has expressed her feelings that the question was fair game, while former Miss USA Shanna Moakler has supported Miss California, but not necessarily agreeing with the stance.

Additionally, numerous celebrities have twittered their Prejean backlash.

At least all this beauty buzz is diverting our focus from the Octomom.
