Katy Perry, consider yourself defended.

Though he was arrested on suspicion of battery, prosecutors have no plans to charge Russell Brand for getting aggressive (or chivalrous, according to his fiancée) with a photographer at L.A. International Airport last month, E! News confirmed Thursday.

Er, so why does Brand still need to get himself to the courthouse on Nov. 19?

The Tempest star has to appear at a hearing, as does the paparazzo who made a citizen's arrest following their fight at LAX, so that both can be lectured on the letter of the law and be officially informed that they're in the clear...for now.

"This is the only action as of now," L.A. City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan tells E! News. "Based on the info, it has been determined that this is the most appropriate action at this time."

Mateljan says he has not heard anything about either side looking to press charges against the other.
