Randy and Evi Quaid still aren't up for a road trip just yet.

After failing to turn up three other times to answer to charges of stiffing a resort on their $10,000 bill, the couple opted to pass on appearing in a Santa Barbara court on Monday as well, despite the fact that they had requested this date.

Santa Barbara District Attorney spokesman Lee Carter didn't sound surprised when the twosome failed to turn up.

"I've been burned...but I'm not going believe they're going to be here until I see them," he told E! News earlier today. "It's still voluntary. I can't make them show up, at least not yet."

The Quaids did, however, call into court this afternoon to ask what's going to be happening now.

We finally know where the cops took Mischa Barton yesterday.

The 23-year-old actress has been hospitalized and is currently under a doctor's care after making a nonemergency phone call to the police on Wednesday, Barton's rep confirmed to E! News Thursday.

"Ms. Barton was safely transfered to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor," Craig Schneider said.

He opted not to comment on Access Hollywood's report that Barton has been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The trouble apparently started yesterday afternoon, when Barton called the cops because she's Marissa from The O.C.

Tonight Show, Hollywood Hail Ed McMahon

Conan O'Brien, just three weeks into hosting the Tonight Show, wouldn't let his audience forget where Ed McMahon made his most indelible mark.

"It is impossible, I think, for anyone to imagine the Tonight Show With Johnny Carson without Ed McMahon. Ed's laugh was really the soundtrack to that show," O'Brien, who employed the sidekick format with Andy Richter on Late Night until 2000, said during Tuesday's taping.

"For 30 years Ed played his part perfectly, he played it with effortless joy, and sitting alongside Johnny, Ed was an indelible part of what I think is the most iconic two-shot in broadcasting history," he continued.

"There will never be anything like that again. Now everybody here at the Tonight Show mourns the loss of this warm and really truly funny man. Our thoughts go out to his family and to his fans everywhere...Ed, you will be missed."

From the late-night couches to the Twitterverse, the tributes to McMahon poured in all day as his fellow celebs recalled his contributions to showbiz:
