Miley Cyrus Puts Her Pole in the Vault
To pole or not to pole? That is the question for Miley Cyrus.
After taking heat for her simulated stripper action at last month's Teen Choice Awards, Cyrus has decided to drop the prop from her performance of the song "Party in the U.S.A." for her upcoming tour, a source close to the star tells E! News.
In recent dress rehearsals, the 16-year-old replaced the pole with a rolling baggage cart described as "the kind a hotel bellhop uses."
While father Billy Ray Cyrus didn't have much of a problem with his daughter's pole-dancing routine, defending the provocative poses as "art" and saying Miley just "loves entertaining people" (yay, Dad!), the fan backlash was immediate.
Now Miley will keep her concerts tween-friendly. Although the insider says the Hannah Montana missy holds onto a pole, "it's more for support, [and] she doesn't grind her hips."
"Miley cares about being a good role model to her fans and didn't want to offend anyone."

Posh Making Play for Permanent Idol Post?
Could Victoria Beckham's stint as a post-Paula Abdul judge on American Idol be more than the one-off gig asserted by producers?
Quite possibly.
E! News has learned that the erstwhile Posh Spice just joined staffers from the hit Fox reality competition aboard an American Airlines flight bound for Boston, site of this week's round of American Idol auditions.
Natalie Eshaya, a producer for Idol host Ryan Seacrest's syndicated KIIS-FM radio show, offered a play-by-play via Twitter.
"Hmmm victoria beckham on our flight to boston....hmmm!" Eshaya tweeted. "We are going for idol....she must be too! Interesting!!"
Last week, in the wake of Abdul's shocking departure, show producers said they wanted to stick to the four-judge format, with guest judges like Beckham and Katy Perry serving as one-time-only fill-ins. Beckham was first up, lending her Spice Girl insight to the Denver auditions on Friday.
Reps for the singer, Fox and FreemantleMedia, which produces Idol, declined to comment. But Eshaya seemed pretty psyched about the possibility.
"Posh has boarded our plane to Boston! Last one on..but hey, at least she flies commercial! LOVE it. Love her more now!!!"
Let's just see if viewers agree.

Chris Brown Cops Plea, Avoids Showdown With Rihanna
The Chris Brown-Rihanna reunion show turned out to be a bust. But that didn't mean there weren't any fireworks.
Brown scuttled the long-awaited court showdown between the former flames as he copped a plea today and managed to avoid jail time for their now infamous Feb. 8 altercation.
The 20-year-old singer pleaded guilty to felony assault and was put on five years' probation and ordered to enroll in an anti-domestic violence program. He must perform 180 days of community service and must have all his travel vetted by a probation officer.
He is due to be formally sentenced Aug. 5, at which time a charge of making criminal threats is expected to be dismissed.
The announcement came as Rihanna waited in a private area of the criminal courts building. The 21-year-old "Disturbia" singer was ready to lay out her version of what went down following a Grammy Awards pre-party, if she were called to the stand.
But her testimony ultimately wasn't required. Instead of a preliminary hearing to determine whether Brown would go to trial on felony counts of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and making criminal threats, Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, dropped the bombshell that the case had been plea-bargained.
"He did not enter a no contest plea," Geragos emphasized at a press conference after court this afternoon. "As long as I've known him in connection with this case, he's wanted to take responsibility. I advised him to wait and let me work through the legal process, which he did."

A-Rod Boning Up on Kabbalah as Madonna's Marriage Crumbles
Where's Waldo? What about A-Rod?
E! News has learned that Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez knew Madonna was planning to drop the divorce bomb and was miles away "lying low" to avoid being connected to the split.
But while not physically together, the all-world ballplayer is apparently doing his best to keep up a spiritual bond. He attended Monday night's annual Sukkot services at the Kabbalah Centre in Los Angeles—the same spiritual center the Material One frequents when in town.
"Alex is really taking it seriously," says a source close to Rodriguez, who is reportedly holed up at the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel.
A rep for the Kabbalah Centre could not be reached for comment.
Hollywood Conservatives Attend McCain Bash
John McCain may hate those Tinseltown elites. But that doesn't mean he won't take their money.
A number of prominent Hollywood conservatives, including Jon Voight, Gary Sinise, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Miller and D.B. Sweeney (but alas no Wilford Brimley) gathered Wednesday night at Los Angeles' Century Plaza Hotel to fill the GOP coffers.
It was the second soiree in as many months organized by Republican A-listers on McCain's behalf.
"What a great event," Voight told E! News.
