Rachel Bilson Lines Up
Rachel Bilson is the latest celeb to star in her own version of Project Runway.
The former O.C. star is launching a junior sportswear line for DKNY Jeans, Women's Wear Daily reports.
The collection, dubbed Edie Rose, will debut in stores in September.
"This is something that I have been interested in doing for such a long time," Bilson told WWD. "I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity for it to be done right.
The line, which takes the Edie part of its name from Bilson's grandmother and the Rose portion from a close family friend, will feature pieces such as skinny jeans, button-down tops, T-shirts and sweaters. Items will wholesale between $19.50 and $49.50.
Though Bilson admits she "can't draw at all," she's making an effort to learn more about design for the sake of her fledgling collection.
"I think it's important to know more about the whole process of making clothes," she said, adding that she is learning to sew.
Central to the concept of the line is Bilson's theory that looking good doesn't necessarily mean spending big bucks.
"I...want to show people that you don't have to pay a million dollars for clothes that look good," the actress said. "For me, I love vintage clothes, and I shop vintage all the time.
"It's fun to play and put things together. You don't have to spend a lot to get a great look."
Bilson joins the ranks of stars such as Avril Lavigne, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sheryl Crow and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, all of whom have signature clothing collections.
As far as her day job goes, Bilson currently appears on the big screen in the sci-fi thriller Jumper, opposite Hayden Christensen.
