Ryan Reynolds: Marathon Man

Ryan Reynolds has already raced to the altar with Scarlett Johansson. The New York City Marathon should be nothing.

The Smokin' Aces stud announced today he's gearing up for his latest conquest, running the Big Apple route on Nov. 2.

But he's a little concerned about the "bleeding nipples."

In an open letter to the Huffington Post, Reynolds recounts taking in the 26-mile race as a spectator.

"I expected exhaustion, but what I didn't expect was to see just how much these runners had to EARN their prize," says the 31-year-old actor, whose upcoming roles include the much-anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine. "It was emotional. The pain was etched into their faces so deeply, you'd swear they'd spend the next three weeks looking like Abe Vigoda.

"I saw guys coming in to finish with bleeding nipples. Why in the hell were their nipples bleeding? People were crying. People were limping, hobbling, screaming, crawling. But most importantly, people were experiencing a sublime rapture that I couldn't even hope to understand." (Um, dude, you better hope the new missus isn't reading this.)

"Let it be known at the outset, I am not a runner. I am a running joke. Waking up at 4:30 a.m. and jogging anywhere from 11 to 23 miles has been nothing short of horrifying," he confesses.

But he's sweating for a good cause.

Inspired in part by his own father as well as Michael J. Fox, Reynolds says he's racing to raise money to fight Parkinson's disease.

Those who would like to contribute to Ryan's cause and help find a cure for Parkinson's can make a donation to the Team Fox website.
