David Beckham flew all the way to London for Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding, but he might not see them when they come to California this week for their very first visit.

The LA Galaxy star said he's declining an invite to a party they're having this week...so how come?

Apparently, Becks isn't allowed to party the night before a game.

"I know they have an event that we were meant to go to but I have a game that night after so I'm not really allowed at events the night before a game," he told E! News during an unveiling of the new Galaxy uniforms in L.A.

Although David won't be tossing back cocktails with the royal twosome, he's trying to squeeze in some facetime, no matter how brief it might be.

"Hopefully, we get to see them even if it's for five minutes to say hello," he explained, adding: "Obviously we're friends and they're such an amazing couple and for them to be coming over to America, it's such a big and special thing, because the royal family is adored over here."

We're sure Will and Kate will understand, as David has a lot on his plate this week apart from his soccer and social schedule...his wife Victoria is due to deliver their baby daughter via C-section any day now.

In fact, she may already have!
