Drew Barrymore's Boy-Toy Brings the Funny on Another Boring SNL
Didn't we already use the phrase "lamest SNL sketch ever" last week?
Too bad.
Once again, the formerly fabulous Saturday Night Live left something to be desired as six-time host Drew Barrymore tried her darndest to muster up some laughs from the not-so-funny material she was given to work with.
The result? One semisilly skit plugging an A&E series, Celebrity Ghost Stories. Real-life Barrymore beau Justin Long popped up as a shirtless, bongo-playing Matthew McConaughey, and while the overall buffness factor was a little off, Long's Southern drawl was spot-on. But it was SNL standout Abby Elliot who stole the show with her eerily uncanny impersonation of fellow funnylady Anna Faris.
Unfortunately, Barrymore drew the short straw and had the impossible feat of playing Sharon Osbourne—a role that Amy Poehler perfected during her days at SNL. There wasn't one other celeb Drew was equipped enough to impersonate? We're just sayin'.

Review: Whip It a Rowdy Roller Romp (Thanks, Drew!)
Review in a Hurry: In her directorial debut, Drew Barrymore decides Oscar can wait. Instead of big issues and dramatic acting, Whip It is more like an indie rock album that tween girls everywhere can relate to. Ellen Page (Juno) and crew make roller skating oh so in-your-face fun.
Drew Barrymore: Nothing Hotter Than a Girl Fight
Forget the injuries on Dancing With the Stars. Try going one-on-one with a roller derby girl.
That's exactly what Drew Barrymore did for Whip It, her directorial debut about a high schooler (Ellen Page) who secretly joins a roller derby team.
Barrymore, who also plays Smashley Simpson in the movie, trained with real-life Detroit Derby Girls star Racer McChasHer.
"We were wrestling and rolling around on the track, and both of us feel one of our skates and both our body weights on my thigh," Barrymore said last night while promoting the flick at the Tough Cookies vs. Varsity Brawlers match in L.A. "I had a bruise that was a foot long and a foot wide. My entire leg was covered."
But she isn't complaining…
Drew Barrymore & Ellen Page Are So Into Each Other
It's Friday, a day where fantasies are fulfilled and the weekend looms.
Such is why we allow this shameless ploy, created to get you thinking about buying tickets to Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page's upcoming movie Whip It when it's released Oct. 9.
Yes, they're smooching in the latest Marie Claire.
Apparently, they're so bonded that Miss Ever After even wore a scarf knitted by the Juno star to their joint interview. They talk about going on a surprise adventure together and admit to feeling the love. They even held hands throughout the chat. Because all besties do that.
"[Meeting Drew] was a surreal moment for me in my life," Ellen said. "You could just feel her warmth and kindness immediately, and the way she carried herself was just so grounded. So then it was like, 'Oh, this is going to be great.' And then it went into, 'Oh, my God, I'm really crazy about this person.' It just grew and grew and grew and grew and grew."
Kind of like your dirty minds.

Jennifer Aniston: Will Sing in Upcoming Flick!
Jennifer Aniston is getting ready to show off her vocal chops.
I can exclusively reveal that the actress, 40, will do her own singing in The Goree Girls, her upcoming real-life drama about a group of female prisoners who form a popular radio country-and-western band in the 1940s.
"She can sing," the movie's director, Michael Sucsy, tells me. "And she's going to learn how to play the Dobro [guitar]."
Aniston's fellow inmates haven't been cast yet. Sucsy isn't looking to fill the roles with real-life musicians…

Jessica and Drew: Let's Hope for a Tie on Emmy Night
Picture this: Emmy nominees Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore tie for the big win when the awards are handed out next month.
When I recently suggested the scenario to Lange, she said it would be quite fitting because the real-life characters they played in Grey Gardens, Big Edie Beale and her daughter, Little Edie, were inseparable. Lange and Barrymore are both up for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for their work in the Michael Sucsy-directed HBO production.
"Oh, wouldn't that be great," Lange said. "I think that would be poetic justice. It would be the perfect end to our little journey here."
So what was it like for Lange to transform herself into a delusional recluse who lived with her only daughter in a decrepit East Hampton home full of cats and raccoons? Read on to find out, plus what role Lange would love to do on Broadway.
Rate-a-Trailer: Does Drew Barrymore Whip It Good?
Given that Drew Barrymore has spent most of her life on movie sets, it seems only natural that she'd be tempted to take a trip behind the camera for a change. Which is just what the actress did for Whip It, her directorial debut, opening Oct. 9. Sure, she's given herself a small part, but hey, you can do that when you're pulling the strings, right?

Applegate Going to the Movies With Barrymore
Christina Applegate is now family to Drew Barrymore.
A source exclusively reveals to me that the Samantha Who? star has signed on for a role in Going the Distance, a romantic comedy starring Barrymore and her maybe-real-life boyfriend Justin Long as a couple in a long-distance relationship...
Drew Barrymore and Justin Long: Together Again?
Are Drew Barrymore and Justin Long back on?
While loads of celebs were at last night's Lakers game, Drew and Justin opted to rock out instead as they attended the Green Day concert together.
The on-and-off couple appeared to be on again as they walked hand in hand to their car.
Maybe Drew's so happy to reunited with her former flame that she forgot to look in the mirror before going out? Love ya, Drew, but that outfit is atrocious!

Drew Barrymore's Gardens Greater Than Zac Efron?
If Drew Barrymore's Grey Gardens had been in theaters this weekend, would it have outgrossed Zac Efron's 17 Again? Is Melissa Joan Hart the new queen of TV movies? And what could possibly be a hipper comedy than The Office?
The answers—and more questions—in the latest TV ratings pop quiz:
1. Could the HBO-aired Grey Gardens have been a No. 1 box office hit? Assuming every single member of its premiere broadcast audience bought a ticket over the weekend, and assuming the competition remained the same, then no, Grey Gardens would not have opened at No. 1.
But its 1.8 million Saturday night viewers (not including replays) would have translated into a roughly $13 million weekend, about the best a grown-up drama can do at the box office these days.
As it was, the movie—cats, squalor and all—was HBO's fourth most watched TV movie of the last five years, the network said, outdrawing the likes of Recount and Mrs. Harris.

Drew Barrymore Gets Grey Gardens Family Approval
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange are getting high praise for their performances in HBO's Grey Gardens from the people who know the story like no other: Big Edie Beale's grandchildren.
"I thought it was spectacular," Michelle Beale, whose father (Phelan Jr.) was Big Edie's older son, told me last night at the L.A. premiere at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Michelle's cousin Christopher Beale (dad was Buddy Beale) added, "Very, very well done."
Read on for more on what they have to say about Barrymore and Lange, why not everyone in the family is a fan of Albert and David Maysles' original documentary and why their dads wished cousin Jackie O had not cleaned up the now legendary estate.
Drew Barrymore Loves Her "Best Friend" Justin Long
The HBO movie Grey Gardens premiered last night in New York City, and Drew Barrymore channeled her character, the staunch Little Edie Beale (before the whole living-in-a-rundown-East-Hampton-mansion-with-raccoons-and-no-electricity thing), in a glamorous beaded Alberta Ferretti dress and veiled headpiece.
But more pressing than her fabulous look—where is that ex-boyfriend she's been hanging out with again, Justin Long?!
