Is There Any Real Dirt on Selena Gomez?
How come everybody seems to love Selena Gomez? You can't go anywhere to look for dirt on this girl.
—Andre H.G., via the Answer B!tch inbox
And thus the circle was squared: Your second sentence essentially answers—or at least partially answers—your question.
Tweens love Selena Gomez because—aside from her hit show (Wizards of Waverly Place, people) and music, of course—she offers just enough bubblegum intrigue to reel you in without grossing you out.
This is not Britney Spears, with her icky bare feet traipsing in and out of public bathrooms, and her erstwhile bald head leering into a paparazzi lens, and her stripper poles, and her...ew. Britney is too much for that crowd. Tweenies just want to watch some TV and, um, hear a cool song, and pretend that their favorite stars are engaged in feuds.
Nobody—except for maybe Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus—provides a better canvas for that kind of pink sparkly unicorn fantasy.
Exactly what is Selena's magic formula? Well...
Video: Nick Jonas Bounces Onto the Dance Floor
Looking like a house-music Matt Damon, Nick Jonas (and the Joni) crank it up and prank it up with Demi Lovato (and other pals) in this spin-sational dance spoof. Nick rocks a way-bogus 'stache to maximum comic effect and offers this inspirational lyric: "My jeans are so tight, it makes these people dance." Wow, that's tight!
Trace Cyrus Loves to Hate Disney Kids
When your younger sister is Disney's most famous pole dancer, it's probably only natural to rebel. That's what Trace Cyrus is doing, anyway. "Need more tattoos so everyone knows I'm the cool one."
When he's not taking awesome pictures of those tats in his hotel room, he's bullying the rest of the Disney gang. It was just last month the 20-year-old Metro Station singer and guitarist was engaging in some high school Twitter drama with Demi Lovato.
Now, it's the Jonas Brothers he's after. Talking to September's Details, he says, "I'm not trying to clean my image to make anyone happy. I could have gone the route of the Jonas Brothers. Those guys can't live their lives freely. They have to put out this image that's totally fake."
And he'll back that up with fists...
Miley, Demi, Selena & the JoBros Are the World
No need to pinch yourselves, tweeners. You're not dreaming.
Disney has gathered its brightest stars, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers for a "We Are the World"-like music video for Friends for Change: Project Green. "Send It On" is meant to unite the kiddies in green living and protecting planet Earth.
That's probably why they ditch the big stage and energy-sucking bright lights for the great outdoors. At first, we were really distracted by the oh-so-convenient intimate pairing of Miley and Nick Jonas. And then we were bugged by Joe Jonas wearing yet another pink shirt and impressed with Selena out-adorabling the lot of them. But we guess there was some sort of charitable point.
Somehow, though, the whole thing seems far less poignant than Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and tons of other major stars teaming up for humanitarian aid in Africa. Maybe that's because it had nothing to do with powerful mice.

Disney's Princesses Still Can't Top the King of Pop
You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain his album sales. Or, ideally, just avoid releasing an album of your own for the next few months.
Michael Jackson continued his posthumous domination of the album charts this week, selling enough copies of Number 1s to make the 2003 greatest hits collection the second-best seller of the year, far outpacing Disney's finest underagers, with offerings from Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Ashley Tisdale—especially Ashley Tisdale—falling well behind.
The year's supreme seller for the time being is Fearless from Taylor Swift, an artist with all the appeal of a Disney star but none of those pesky Mouse House associations. Unless you count the ex. And the rotating BFFs.
Guess a bedazzled guitar beats a sequined glove. At least for now...
Demi Does Daughtry, Jordin Sparks
Sure, the music snobs here at E! Online prefer Demi Lovato's acid-rock rendition of the Barney theme to anything off her latest CD. But everyone else seems to like Here We Go Again just fine.
The Disneyfied tween queen proved more popular than former American Idol stars Chris Daughtry and Jordin Sparks, debuting at No. 1. It's the first chart-topper for Lovato, whose rookie release, Don't Forget, opened at No. 2.
Speaking of No. 2, that's where Daughtry's Leave This Town is parked this week. Sparks's Battlefield, meanwhile, checked in at No. 7.
Demi Lovato and Jimmy Fallon Headbang for Barney
Demi Lovato's purple past became her present Thursday night when she appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
Taking a cue from both the 16-year-old starlet's early beginnings as a regular on Barney & Friends and her affinity for making YouTube clips with bestie (and fellow dinosaur show alum) Selena Gomez, Jimmy asked Demi if they could make a video of them belting out a metal version of the very mellow theme song to that popular kids' program.
Never have the lyrics "I Love You, You Love Me, We're a Happy Family" sounded so hard-core.

Demi Lovato & Trace Cyrus: Twittermancing IRL
Twitter lovers Demi Lovato and Metro Station front man (or, more importantly, Miley Cyrus' 20-year-old brother) Trace Cyrus have been @ replying each other with flirty tweets for a while now.
Last time we checked in on the two, there were lots of <3s as they counted down the days until they would reunite in Los Angeles. "@tracecyrus 5 days!!! :D :D :D," she would tweet while he would echo her enthusiasm: "@ddlovato so soon! I'm so ready to get home to you."
And then it happened. They were both in the same city and could finally talk in person rather than bothering the whole Twitterverse with their sweet nothings. "@ddlovato I've been looking forward to today for so long now. It feels like it's taken years," Trace wrote.
So what did the two do with their precious days together before Trace was scheduled to fly off to Virginia to tattoo one of his last remaining open spaces of clean skin?
Miley Cyrus Is Single and Sad
The universe will not allow the whole Cyrus family to be happy. Gotta keep things in balance, that's The Secret or whatever.
Take Ms. Miley Cyrus. She declared herself :) to be single: "I am lovinggg being single :) life is so carefree!!! Spending the day enjoying Sonic, Music, @mommytish, and the beautiful sun in Savannah."
Could that mean she and Nick Jonas aren't really back together? Did all that jet skiing mean nothing? And how can she be so happy about it ending so soon if that's what really happened?
Oh, turns out Miley isn't so :) about her singledom. Just a few hours later she came down with a mean case of the sads. A sampling:
Demi Lovato Laughs Off Tiny Tumble
Who knew having two left feet could be so endearing?
That's just what happened over the weekend at one of Demi Lovato's concerts, where the Disney starlet took a bit of a fall while singing her song "Until You're Mine" and lived to laugh about it.
In the video, Demi is seen walking down a flight of stairs onstage when, right around the 1:11 mark, she loses her footing, only to bounce right back up with a giggle and a sheepish "sorry" before continuing to belt it out for the screaming tweens in attendance.
Toward the end of the performance, Demi playfully acknowledges the minor mishap, telling the crowd: "I planned that. The whole falling thing? It was already planned."
Adorable and obviously not a lip-syncher? Yeah, this girl's goin' places.
Weekend Showdown: Shopaholic vs. a Tween & Transformers
This week is all about the ladies—well, the ladies and, of course, Optimus Prime.
While Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the talk of the town this week, Tuesday's new releases will no doubt excite the female teen demographic as Isla Fisher's cutesy Confessions of a Shopaholic hits stores, alongside a new single by tweenster Demi Lovato.
But just in case you happen to be one of the millions of fans rushing out to see the Autobots battle the Decepticons for the second time on Wednesday, the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack might tickle your fancy. The movie's video game comes out too, so you might as well make it a week of Transformers festivities, right?
What about those other newbies?
Disney Girls Glimpse Real Teen Life, Tweet About It
• It's rare when Disney kids get to experience real life so Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez used a Toronto trip to crash a high school prom last night: "Totally crashing a prom with selena, jman, jasmine, marissa, priscilla and michael UNRECOGNIZED!!!!!!!!!
