How Could Celebrities Ever, Ever Get Fat?
How does celebs' weight get so out of control? Rich people like Oprah have more than enough money to hire personal chefs and trainers. What's their problem?
—Lemon
The "problem" is that even the great fitness guru Bob Greene cannot stop The Oprah from crawling off into some corner of her cream-and-gold Chicago pied-à-terre and scarfing down a crate of Funyuns. The trainer and chef don't follow a star around a talk show set or soundstage.
No matter how many flunkies they have, there's always that moment when the star must face down the craft services table, and the fried delicacies therein.
Greene himself explained Oprah's weight struggle...
Battlestar's Ratings Blowout
Goodbye, Farewell, Ka-Ching! Friday's Battlestar Galactica two-hour series finale scored an estimated 2.4 million viewers—the show's biggest audience in more than three years, Sci Fi Channel said today.
Compared to Battlestar's third-season finale 100 years ago—well, March 2007—its fourth and final finale was up a whopping 56 percent.
So, Was Battlestar the Biggest Sci-Fi Friday Show Around? No. For one thing, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronciles was bigger (3.7 million, per Nielsen stats as reported by MediaWeek), and for another thing so was Dollhouse (4.1 million). Terminator was up a little from its performance last week; Dollhouse was about even.
Battlestar Galactica Series Finale Redux: So Do We Live Happily Ever After?
Well played!
Battlestar Galactica, a visually grim and philosophically dark series for the duration of its run, had no obligation to end with twittering birds, romantic curlicues and happy, healing Helo. It was a gift, then, that it ended on such a triumphal, thoughtful note, and for that gift plus the entirety of four epic years with this great story, we offer a sincere and hearty thank you to the creators, cast and crew.
But enough niceties. Let's get cracking into what went down in the series finale of Battlestar Galactica and, more importantly, what series creator Ronald D. Moore has to say about it...
Old-School Creator in Talks for Big-Screen Galactica
Even after Battlestar Galactica ends its run on the Sci Fi Channel next month, it seems as if there will still be more than enough related interplanetary entertainment to take us Earthlings well into the next Cylon War.
Though fans had probably been hoping for a more Edward James Olmos-themed addition to the canon, Universal is in talks with Glen A. Larson, the creator of the original 1970s-era ABC incarnation, to bring BSG to the big screen in a whole new-old way.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, the film would have no connection to the present-day series and would relaunch the familiar story in a new medium, but major characters such as Adama and Starbuck will be present and accounted for.
But just in case this idea never gets off the ground, we've still got Sci Fi's upcoming prequel series Caprica, from BSG 2.0 creator Ronald D. Moore, to look forward to in 2010.
A two-hour pilot movie kicking off the story of the two rival families that unwittingly unleash the Cylons on humanity, starring Esai Morales, Paula Malcolmson and Eric Stoltz, will be available by digital download or on DVD April 21.
Battlestar Galactica Flies High, Tween Shows Fly Higher
Why should Battlestar Galactica consider cranking up the Radio Disney? Why might Grey's Anatomy wish it had never been TiVo'd? And where in the world is George W. Bush still a draw?
The answers—and more questions—in this week's TV ratings pop quiz:
1. What's Wrong With Galactica? Nothing. It's just that cable is ruled by tween girls. And, all right, yes, wrestling fans and NCIS completists, but mostly tween girls.
Last week's No. 1 cable show (nonwrestling division, natch)? The ABC Family Channel Selena Gomez TV movie Another Cinderella Story (5.3 million viewers, Nielsen stats showed). Last week's No. 1 cable series? Nick's iCarly (5.1 million).
2. But What's Wrong With Galactica? Again, nothing. Sci Fi was pleased with Friday's so-called "season 4.5" premiere.
Tricia Helfer Hits On Chuck?! Josh Schwartz Dishes
Chuck Bartowski just scored himself one mighty fine Cylon.
Multiple sources confirm Battlestar babe Tricia Helfer will join NBC's Chuck later this season as a new honey for Chuck himself, Zachary Levi.
Now, some of you fans may be asking, "Wait a minute! This doesn't mean Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah) is leaving Chuck, does it?!"
And also, will Tricia stick around?
I have the exclusive dish on that and more, direct from Chuck boss Josh Schwartz (who admits he's a huge Battlestar fan)...
Does John Mayer (or Anyone) Need Two Cell Phones?
Why do celebrities have so many cell phones? Every time I see them in photos or on reality shows, they have a different phone or even two at once! What's the deal?
—Annette
A reporter once asked the same question of an assistant to Russell Simmons, who was working two cell phones at the time. "One cell phone isn't enough to take all the calls," the assistant replied.

Does Jessica Simpson Visit Fansites? Anyone Else?
Do celebrities ever visit their fansites?
—Laura from Argentina
If you're wondering whether Jessica Simpson does—and you know you cannot live one more second without knowing—the answer is yes. She does follow the scuttlebutt on her fansites, particularly SweetKisses.net, where she's even been known to—yes—post stuff.
But most stars, at least the big ones, don't pay attention unless something alarming happens. Like when a fan posts an unflattering photo.
Which rising TV star nixed some pics she didn't like when she saw them on a fansite? Well ...
