Shark Tale

Sorry, chum, this isn't an instant classic. In DreamWorks' animated underwater adventure, Will Smith voices a fish with a penchant for exaggeration, a trait that gets him mistakenly pegged as a shark-slayer. He befriends a peaceful vegetarian shark (Jack Black) from a family of mobster sharks (led by Robert De Niro)--and the misunderstandings begin.
It's colorful and zippy, not to mention filled with hip-hop and of-the-moment pop-culture references for the kids. But the shallow script fails to achieve the charm and imagination of obvious rival Finding Nemo (oh, and those racial stereotypes don't help much either). The kiddies will giggle today, just don't expect this fishy tale stay fresh for too long.
