Case Closed on Ledger Drug Video

Not only will Jane Doe's identity remain a mystery; her settlement will as well.
An invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by a mystery freelance reporter against photo agency Splash News over footage allegedly showing Heath Ledger talking about—though never taking—drugs has been settled.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
"All I can say is that the matter has been resolved," the woman's attorney, Neville L. Johnson, said.
The video was taken in 2006 on the night of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The unnamed reporter, who was freelancing for People at the time, claims that two photographers, one of whom she was dating at the time, had purchased cocaine and invited Ledger back to her hotel room at the Chateau Marmont.
Ledger & Co. were then secretly filmed in the hotel room. But while the late actor was seen on film drinking beer and talking about drugs, he was never seen to partake in any illegal substances.
After Ledger's death on Jan. 22, 2008, Entertainment Tonight purchased the footage and ran promos teasing the supposedly scandalous clips. But following an outcry by Ledger's family and industry friends, the show decided not to run the video.
Jane Doe's suit, in which 11 of 12 claims were dismissed by a judge last year, was seeking to get the tape destroyed.
