The pre-inauguration festivities heated up last night in Washington, D.C., as a smattering of celebrities (at least those not taking in Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers at the Kids' Inaugural Concert) showed up to celebrate the impending Barack Obama administration at Al Gore's eco-friendly Green Ball.

Among the stars who took the stage were John Legend, Paul Reiser, Maroon 5, Blair Underwood, Lisa Ling, John Cusack, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert Kennedy Jr., Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Melissa Etheridge—who belted out Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart"—and will.i.am, who was backed by a chorus of children on his Obama-inspired hit "It's a New Day."

"We need to change the way we use energy, the way we treat the Earth," said the former vice president (and near-president), as guests dined on organic fare at the carbon-neutral shindig.
