An autopsy on John Travolta's son, Jett, is scheduled to take place on Monday in the Bahamas, as dozens of family and friends have gathered in the Bahamas to mourn the untimely death of the 16-year-old.

A government official confirms to E! News that the autopsy will be conducted in Freeport by two separate pathologists to ensure accuracy of the results. One is being flown in from Nassau because he is U.S.-certified. A possible cause of death could be released by the end of Monday.

Travolta, wife Kelly Preston and their chidren, Jett and daughter Ella Bleu, arrived in the Bahamas on Dec. 30 and were joined by friends and family before Jett's death for a long-planned party over the holiday week.

Many of the friends are from Florida and nearly all are staying at the Old Bahama Bay Resort, where Jett died. No sign yet of any celebrities.

Initial indication by Bahamian Chief Superintendent Basil Rahming and Travolta's lawyer suggest Jett suffered a seizure and hit his head on a bathtub. The body was discovered by a family friend.

If made available to the family, the body may be presented for a viewing on Tuesday in Freeport, according to the local mortuary retained by the family. The body will then be flown to Ocala, Fla., for burial services. The Travoltas own a home there.

E! News has also learned more about the person who found Jett's body on Friday morning and described by police as a "caretaker." He is Jeff Michael Kathrein, a close family friend and professional photographer. Kathrein, 30, has snapped pics of Preston for a magazine shoot and also has professional ties to Travolta.
